Leeds United will face off against lower league side Newport County in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, at the Elland Road.
The Whites had thrashed Port Vale 4-1 in the opening round of the competition and are yet to lose a game in any competition so far this season. Thomas Christiansen’s side come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Sunderland over the weekend and the manager will be hoping his side stay on the same course on Tuesday night as well.
Striker Chris Wood’s move to Burnley was confirmed by Christiansen and will not feature for Leeds again this season. His understudy Caleb Ekuban too is a doubt, after being subbed off due to injury on Saturday evening, while playmaker Pablo Hernandez is also likely to be unavailable. Matthew Pennington and Gaetano Berardi remain out.
Has kept three clean sheets consecutively and should retain his place ahead of veteran Rob Green between the sticks.
Started at left-back last game, but he could be moved to the right-hand side of the defence as Christiansen might look to give Luke Ayling some time off.
The Swede was absolutely majestic in the previous game for the Whites and will look to carry on in a similar fashion against Newport.
The youngster has performed decently when given a chance by the manager and another run out can be expected, this time against Newport County.
The loanee from Manchester United made his debut for Leeds in a cup game and has impressed each time he has got a chance. Should start at left-back.
The summer arrival is yet to start a game, but that could change on Tuesday night, as the manager might look to rest his first-choice central midfielders.
The 19-year old is another who hasn’t seen a lot of game time this term but could be in for a starting berth against Newport, in place of Kalvin Phillips.
The Macedonian winger has made an instant impact on his arrival this summer and after a strong display on Saturday, he should start again on the right flank.
Another new signing who has made a strong impression, the Spaniard looks like a fine addition. Should start in behind the striker on Tuesday.
Scored the second goal against Sunderland and with Pablo Hernandez being a doubt due to injury, Dallas should get the nod down the left-hand side.
With Ekuban out injured, Christiansen is out of options at the top and may continue with Kemar Roofe, who performed decently after Ekuban’s injury in the central role.
