Why Michy Batshuayi will finally taste success at Chelsea under Sarri

Chelsea’s fringe striker Michy Batshuayi has been given a lifeline by Maurizio Sarri. The Italian has stated that the Belgian has a future at west London and that he will use him upon the team’s requirements and dynamics.

The 24-year-old spent the second part of last season at Dortmund, where he scored 7 goals in 10 appearances to get some confidence back. He was down the pecking order under Sarri’s predecessor Antonio Conte and couldn’t find enough opportunities to showcase his talent.

Now, with the backing of the new manager and good form combining at the right time, this may just be the year where we might see the best of Batshuayi as a striker. Here’s the reason why Batshuayi, who joined Chelsea for £33m, will shine for Chelsea this season.

Sarri’s playing system will suit the player

In his time at Napoli, Sarri was an expert in making all of his front-line players look deadly in front of goal. The simple reason was the fullbacks getting very high up the pitch, concurrently enabling the wide attacking players to narrow up to have a sight at goal.

Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi generally struggled under Conte because of the counter-attacking system. He usually found himself alone, handling two defenders before the supporting runners joined him. By that time, the Belgian tended to lose possession, which didn’t help his confidence and the manager’s faith in him.

However, under Sarri, the 24-year-old will have more players in the attack, which will aid him to make clever runs and trouble the defenders. He is a very good finisher, as he reiterated that in his short time at Germany.

The narrow front-line will also help Batshuayi to interchange positions with other attackers and improve his overall game. He has the potential to become a potent threat.

Verdict

Sarri has a unique forte of making forward players more potent and troublesome for the defenders to handle.

Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi would love this and might work harder to get into the first-team plans of the manager. The good thing here is the parallel thinking between the player and the manager in terms of playing style.

Not many will call this but if Batshuayi shines for Chelsea next season, we shouldn’t be surprised.
