Chelsea vs Manchester United: 3 Things To Keep An Eye Out For

Chelsea vs Manchester United

The battle between two stuttering giants should keep us all glued on the television as Chelsea entertain Manchester United. The Blues are unbeaten in seven league games under Guus Hiddink and will be looking to keep up their slim chances of making it into Europe.

The last time these two clubs met, it was a goalless draw at Old Trafford but Manchester United had the better chances in the game. United though need to keep up the pressure on the top four as a slip by the top four.

These are two sides still struggling to find their identity this season as Chelsea have an interim manager and Manchester United held recent talks with Jose Mourinho to replace Louis van Gaal. They certainly aren’t the biggest clubs in England right now but this game does have a history of defining title challenges, this time it could be just for some pride.

With two rather mellow characters leading the clubs, we might not see the same fireworks from the sides but it still should be an interesting game to watch. We look at this game and list out the three things to keep an eye out for.

  1. The reaction to John Terry
John Terry

John Terry’s time at the club could be coming to an end and it certainly will be an emotional set of games at the Bridge till the last day of the season. The Captain of Chelsea might not be a surety of remaining at the club next season and this would probably mean a lot of fans praising the legend at the club and giving him a roaring reception every time he touches the ball.

Terry would be up against Wayne Rooney and that would mean a great tussle for the fans but this will certainly be extremely emotional for player and fans alike.

2. A lack of goals

While the two teams aren’t playing great football, this game as always been a tight affair and the lack of goals surely will be a factor that might take a few eyes off the game. The last game between the sides was without anyone troubling the score keepers.

The last three Premier League games have only seen three goals scored between the sides and it certainly wouldn’t change all that much this time around as well. Manchester United are a bit hit and miss while Chelsea might freeze up in this game.

3. Which United will come out?

Martial

While Chelsea have found some form in the final third of the pitch, Manchester United did show that they are capable of doing a lot of good work in the attacking third with their incredible performance against Stoke.

Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard should be the trident at the top of the attack and if they can play to their ability as they did against Stoke, it could be an easy win for the red side of Manchester over their London rivals.
