Chelsea Transfers: What The Fallen Champions Need Right Now In The Window?

Share

The London club Chelsea are preparing themselves for the Premier League showdown of the next campaign and all the players and including the staffs have been working out of their skins to bring back the glorious days to Stamford Bridge.

In terms of transfers, the Stamford Bridge outfit have done a pretty good business by bringing Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante, but that surely isn’t the answer for what they were criticized for in the last season.

With the players like Hazard, Cuadrado, and Willian, the attacking options are from being a problem and even the arrival of Kante has stabilized the midfield a little bit, but what about defence? We all are aware of the fact that both of their centre-halves, Gary Cahill and John Terry, were one of the weakest links in the team last term, hence, an upgrade or a reinforcement for the spot is an absolute necessity.

So far, the manager, Conte, has been linked with a move for his former employee Leonardo Bonucci, but the Italian defender is also a reported target for Manchester City, and the Citizens have already tried to lure him into the club,Turin-based based side rejected their offer, hence, it is safe to say that Bonucci isn’t the concrete option for the side.

The club, right at this very moment, does not really have many options for the central area. Yes, they do have Kurt Zouma and Ivanovic, but what besides that? We all are aware of the fact that the Serbian, Ivanovic,  has passed his prime time, hence, he cannot be trusted in the major games and besides him, even John Terry has been a subject of inconsistency so trusting Zouma and Cahill (only) will surely not be a safe option for the manager.

Even besides the central area, the club needs to work to find a tough and consistent full-back as Baba Rahman has departed to Schalke. The 19-year-old Ola Aina is a dependent option, but then again, he isn’t the most consistent performer and also an inexperienced player for the Premier League. The opponents like Mahrez of Mkhitaryan can easily cut the comedy for the London-born defender, hence a major reinforcement in defence is a sure necessity for the Blues.

Apart from Bonucci, the side have been linked with Napoli’s 25-year-old centre back Kalidou Koulibaly, but the club from Naples are not willing to sell the star as they don’t want to further weaken their squad after selling Higuain to Juventus. Besides all of it, what if a player suffers a serious concussion, just like Zouma, then the team will be narrowed down to even more limited option and to avoid that, they need to work on the attribute.

As stated earlier, the attacking line is far from being an issue, what they really need is a tough centre-half and a consistent full-back to have a balanced squad that can compete for titles next season.
