With the January Transfer Window fast lurking, the Premier League sides are significantly looking to add steel to their squad. The Blues from Stamford Bridge have had a mixed start to the campaign and sit fourth in the table, four points behind leaders Arsenal. Jose Mourinho might have been very lucky with last week’s penalty for a blatant Ramires’ dive against West Brom but Chelsea have hardly set the grounds blazing even though with the squad depth they possess at their disposal. With Jose Mourinho certainly in the market for a new striker who could significantly bolster their firepower up front going into the second half of the campaign, there might be several players who might head for the exit tunnel at Stamford Bridge.
While Jose Mourinho was in Belgium to witness Falcao’s team beat the likes of a talented Belgium side, Chelsea are certainly in the search of a new striker who can bolster their attacking weaklinks. With Torres, Eto’o or Ba none finding their form over the past weeks, it looks like Mourinho will be handed enough money to sign a major striker come January. This perhaps signals the end of Demba Ba’s career at Stamford Bridge. With Arsenal also in the market to provide Oliver Giroud some cover, Ba remains the perfect ploy at a meagre fiscal ramification. The Former Newcastle man might be available for a cheap price. However, will Chelsea sell to their direct rival?
If reports are to be believed according to Telegraph, big spending French side PSG are reportedly interested in the Chelsea star. As Bleacher Report says: Since Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, the 25-year-old has found himself on the fringes of the first team—five times an unused substitute and occasionally omitted from the match day squad altogether. With Oscar playing the number ten role, and Hazard and Schurrle occupying the wings, Mata perhaps doesn’t fit in Mourinho’s plans. There is no doubt about Mata’s incredible ability, his dynamic vision, poise and mesmerizing skills.
One reason why Oscar might be preferred to Mata is due to the Brazilian’s willingness to track back and is extremely aware of his defensive abilities. However there is no doubt what Mata brings with him, that’s certainly assists being his trademark. Mata has recently earned match time and has gained Mourinho’s confidence, but a lucrative bid from PSG could see the Spaniard leave the Bridge which would also help Chelsea’s pursuit of Falcao financially.
Reports also suggest that Spanish Champions Barcelona are planning for a grand transfer swoop in the January transfer window as Jose Mourinho is happy to let Luiz go after losing his patience with the defender. While Mourinho has preferred Terry and Cahill over the more talented David Luiz, the Brazilian will have to keep his options open if Barcelona come calling albeit, he wants more playing time before the World Cup.
