Chelsea Striker Says, “It’s Difficult To Be Left On The Sidelines”

After Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea for the second time earlier in the summer, it has brought joy and hope for several fans of the West London club as they wish to see those glorious days which the former Real Madrid manager bought during his first stint at Stamford Bridge.

However, the second home coming of the Special One has not gone well with a few of the players in Chelsea’s squad and one amongst them is Demba Ba.

Ba joined the Europa League winners earlier in January from Newcastle United. He was signed more likely as an emergency plan by the Blues former manager Rafael Benitez. The Spaniard was the interim manager at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea’s Champions League winning manager Roberto Di Matteo was sacked by Roman Abramovich.

The Senegalese international did play a part under the former Liverpool’s manager’s time at the West London club. However, Ba has been dropped to the bench since Jose Mourinho made his second come back to Chelsea earlier in the summer.

Ba has made two league appearances this season and managed one assist, to setup a goal for Oscar during Chelsea’s 3-1 over Norwich City.

The Portuguese tactician has been fielding Fernando Torres and summer signing Samuel Eto’o as the lone striker in most of the games played this season. The situation has seen Ba’s future at the club hanging in the balance and the former Newcastle striker could weigh his options once the transfer window opens in January.

The other possibility could be that Chelsea could also offload Ba during the mid-season transfer window. The striker has already expressed his grief of not featuring regularly at the club, but has urged to fight for a place in the starting lineup.

“It’s difficult to be left on the sidelines but, as I’m a professional, and a good one, I always work hard and wait for moments like this,” Ba told Chelsea’s official website.

Ba’s chances of climbing up the pecking order in beating the likes of Torres and Eto’o looks slim. The striker needs to impress the Portuguese boss as the former Inter and Madrid boss is unlikely to wait further before bringing reinforcements in January or next summer.
