Chelsea’s new manager Antonio Conte needs to bring in a lot of top talent to the side and one player who has been constantly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Paul Pogba. The 23-year-old Juventus player might just be the most complete midfielder in the world at the moment and he seems only to get better as each season progresses.
Pogba just picked up yet another Serie A title with the Old Lady and although Chelsea might not be playing at the same levels as the Italian champions, they would still want to try and sign him up. Juventus, time and again, have stated that they would be willing to listen to offers for the French midfielder, if a club can come up with the right amount of money.
Chelsea seems set to smash their transfer record as they look to bring talent into the side and rumors are strong that a bid of £76 million would be enough to bring the 23-year-old to London. It wouldn’t just be the money, but the chance of playing under one of the best managers around again that could entice the youngster to move to the club.
Chelsea must splash big
The London club should put all their effort into signing the French star as soon as possible as he is expected to star for the national team in the upcoming European championships. The 23-year-old would be playing in front of a home crowd and that could only gee him up to up in some great performances and help France to more European glory in the summer.
That could actually lead to a lot more clubs in trying to sign him up and also would raise his price from the initial quoted bid that Chelsea should think about sending out right now. Not only is Pogba incredible for his national side, Juventus have time and again seen his incredible numbers.
This season as well, Pogba starred for the Old Lady and bagged 10 goals while also providing 14 assists in all competitions for the Serie A team. These numbers might not be as good as that of his previous season but they certainly are better than what most of the Chelsea midfielders had achieved in their disastrous campaign under Jose Mourinho.
Not only are his numbers brilliant, he has age on his side as well and that would mean the London club’s future in that position would be taken care off for a long time. Pogba is a dynamic player and his endless running could be the key for Chelsea to climb up to the top of the league.
Pep Guardiola, the new Manchester City manager would also be thinking of making a move for the French star and with Manchester City also having a player like Yaya Toure, who they could use as a weight for the transfer to take place. Chelsea would not want to get into a bidding war for the rising star and the fact that the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and even John Obi Mikel aren’t getting any younger and not performing all that well could set them to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.
If they do get this deal done, it easily would be the transfer of the season and would also ensure that Chelsea are one of the teams to battle it out for the crown in the next campaign.
