The future of Brazilian forward Oscar gets murkier as the days go by. Recent reports suggest that the 24-year-old could be the first player to be sold by incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as the attacker has had many bids from Chinese Super League clubs and even Juventus.
The attacker was brought into the Premier League club in 2012 and had a great impact at the club, eventually winning the Premier League and even the Europa League with the Blues, but his time at the club could be coming to an end partly due to his lack of form under Jose Mourinho and then under Guus Hiddink.
The latter not having a decent effect on the Brazilian star would be a worry for many from the Chelsea management and it is seen that Oscar might not be able to reach his best form under the incoming Italian taskmaster at the London club.
Chelsea might get a decent deal from the Chinese Super League clubs especially, and having seen so many stars move away to the cash rich league, it would not be a surprise that the Premier League club do sell the 24-year-old and make a decent profit on the 20 million pound that the Blues had initially paid for the star.
The decision to sell him wouldn’t just be to make a tidy profit but also because of the dip in form of the Brazilian over the years. His goal scoring record has gone down since his 2013-14 season and this season also he could not make it to double digits in all the competitions he played in.
This might seem a bit of a drastic step to take for a player who is yet to hit his peak but this could be one way to ensure that Conte has a clean slate to work with next season. The 24-year-old could be seen as surplus to requirements since they already have big named played such as Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro who can all play right behind the main striker, even if it isn’t their original position.
Oscar also might need a bit of a new challenge having stagnated at the London club. A new destination for him would probably recharge his batteries and that would certainly help him get back to his best next season.
China might not be the best destination for the Brazilian as it isn’t the most competitive league in the world but moving to Juventus would make a lot of sense for the 24-year-old. The Italian league might not be a competition with a lot of pace but the Brazilian could well star there as he has the technique to do well in any league and that lack of speed would actually benefit the Chelsea star.
It would be a surprise seeing Oscar at Stamford Bridge next season as well as Conte looks for a new team with a renewed hunger to challenge for the title and Oscar does not seem to be the man for that team next season.
