Chelsea Player Ratings vs Watford: Kurt Zouma Sends A Strong Message To Mourinho

Share

Chelsea got back to winning ways after their derby humiliation against Tottenham; the Blues were up against Watford in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and controlled the game winning it by 3 goals. Chelsea named a much changed line-up when compared to the team which faced Tottenham. Fabregas, Matic, Costa and Hazard all did not start for Chelsea and it showed.

Chelsea made a couple of substitutions at the break with the score at 0-0 and that was when they started to click, goals from Willian, Remy and Zouma proved to be too much for Watford but Chelsea weren’t at their best to be honest, we have the player ratings for the Chelsea team.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Watford

Petr Cech: 7/10

Was brought in the team in place of Courtois and did well in place of the Belgian. Chelsea weren’t really threatened much by Watford though.

Luis Felipe: 7/10

Another player brought into the team, Felipe was good in his defensive role but again he needs to work on his offense and support to the attack.

Kurt Zouma: 8/10

Started in place of John Terry and did very well in defence and scored an important goal for the team as well.  This performance will send a strong message to the manager who should give Zouma needs more game time and if Chelsea provide it to him he will become a much better defender.

Gary Cahill: 6/10

The Englishman had a torrid game against Spurs but was much more composed against Watford, sure they weren’t the toughest opposition to deal with but this was a huge confidence booster for Cahill.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7/10

The Spaniard had a solid game for Chelsea and didn’t do any harm in ensuring that he keeps his place in the first team for a while longer.

John Obi Mikel: 5/10

Chelsea did miss a lot of Matic and while Mikel isn’t a bad player, he was not at his best and often the Watford team ended up dominating the midfield, which does not help Mikel’s cause.

Ramires: 7/10

The Brazilian was decent in the game; of course he did not have the creativity or guile of Cesc Fabregas but did a decent enough job for the Chelsea team.

Oscar: 5/10

Surprisingly the Brazilian was yanked out at half time; this might have been a way for Jose to ensure that Oscar works harder; he didn’t really do much for Chelsea in the first half though.

Andre Schurrle: 5/10

It seems that every time Schurrle plays for Chelsea he gets subbed off fast. Schurrle was substituted after the first half and it seems his time at Chelsea could be coming to an end.

Didier Drogba: 6/10

Drogba didn’t have the greatest game for the Blues and while he was strong in the air, he didn’t really threaten the Watford defence until Costa came on to give him some support.

Loic Remy: 8/10

Scored a brilliant volley to give Chelsea a 2 goal lead, Remy was good in his role today and if he continues taking his chances, he could get into the first team for Chelsea.

Substitutes

Diego Costa: 8/10

Although Costa did not get onto the team sheet, his presence in the 2nd half made Chelsea a much better team and it was due to the substitutions they got a hold of the game.

Willian: 8/10

Willian came on in the 2nd half and really changed the way Chelsea played, he scored the opening goal for the team and seemed to be a catalyst for all good things Chelsea did.

Nathan Ake: NA

Was brought on late in place of Drogba but didn’t really have much to do in the game.
