Chelsea Player Ratings vs Arsenal – Demolition Of The Gunners + Jose’s Reaction

Share

A majestic performance from Chelsea in Saturday’s early kickoff ensured the Blues a thumping 6-0 win over a spineless Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge of the Gunners was a clear reflection of the difference in quality of the both sides as they hardly managed to get a grip of the encounter. Arsenal were down to ten men when referee Andre Marriner mistakenly sent off Kieran Gibbs following Oxlade Chamberlain’s deliberate attempt to stop Eden Hazard’s goal bound effort with a blatant handball. As Chelsea just ripped apart the Gunners here is the home team’s player ratings from the sunny London afternoon.

Andre Schurrle Chelsea

Petr Cech: Rarely had to do anything but made two good saves, particularly the first of them, when the score was still 0-0 at the beginning. Yet another clean sheet.

Rating: 2.5/5

Branislav Ivanovic: The Serbian has had better than games than this and was guilty of squandering possession quite frequently. Still helped his team in keeping a shutout.

Rating: 2.5/5

Gary Cahill: As Arsenal barely threatened, he was comfortable at the back, was easy on the ball and his passing was flawless.

Rating: 3/5

John Terry: One of the easier games for the Chelsea captain, his positioning was good and was stout at the back hardly making an error in defense.

Rating: 3.5/5

Cesare Azpilicueta: Another excellent display from the Spaniard, brilliant going forward and assured of his defensive duties. Top notch yet again, sadly wouldn’t be heralded as a top performer thanks to Chelsea’s plethora of quality up front.

Rating: 3.5/5

Nemanja Matic: Turning out to be a great signing with his imposing presence in midfield screening his defense, assured in possession and his distribution is turning out to be immaculate.

Rating: 3.5/5

David Luiz: The Brazilian justified his selection putting in a good shift in, playing with a lot of freedom breaking forward plenty of times to join attacks up front.

Rating: 2.5/5

Andre Schurrle: My man of the match as the German turned it on with a sumptuous display grabbing a goal and also laying Torres with a deft touch for Oscar’s goal and Chelsea’s fourth just before half time. Played his heart out!

Rating: 4/5

Oscar: Grabbing a brace would have done his confidence a world of good. While the first was a tap in the second should have been saved by Szczesny. Was later replaced by Mohammed Salah who also got on the score sheet.

Rating: 3/5

Eden Hazard: Didn’t have too much impact apart from scoring from the spot after winning the  penalty when Oxlade Chamberlain blatantly handled his goal bound effort. In all a quiet day for the Belgian given his high standards.

Rating: 2/5

Fernando Torres: Worked very hard, provided an assist after coming on early for Eto’o, the latter who opened the scoring for the home side. Sadly Torres couldn’t grab a goal of his own.

Rating: 2.5/5
