Chelsea Latest: New Wonder Kid Signing And Mourinho’s Faith On Torres

Share

This season Chelsea have shown that they are interested not only in superstars, but also in talented youths who may need some time to develop but ultimately could prove to be a vital player for the club.

They have added one more name to their list yesterday when they signed Croatian Stipe Perica, as reported by givemesport.com. Perica made his mark at the recently held U20 World Cup scoring once in his three appearances. The Chelsea scouts were quick to spot the talent and made the 18 year old an offer that he could not refuse.

Perica will join the Chelsea side from NK Zadar, where he made his senior debut in September, 2012. Since then he had scored 10 goals for the side in the 23 times he has donned the club jersey. Perica will be heading to London club’s development squad and will look to break into the first team under the guidance of Mourinho sooner than later.

After spending some heavy transfer fees over the past years, Chelsea are really trying to develop their youth system and the signature of Perica will be a step in that direction.

Whereas the club has got one very talented young striker to the squad, Mourinho has put his faith in one of the senior striker’s of the team.

Jose Mourinho has mentioned that the he expects Fernando Torres to do well for the side and regain his old form. “I feel he is highly motivated, he works very hard. I think some of the work we do with the team in terms of attack suits his qualities. So let’s see what happens. We are here to support him.” said Mournho.

He has gone on to state that it is the team which needs to adjust to the needs of the Spaniard who went on o score 22 goals for them last season, displaying just a glimpse of his former self.

Mourinho said,

“When we see Torres with his back to goal surrounded by two or three opponents, we know that he is not going to produce a piece of magic,”

“But this is Torres. We want the team not to learn how to play with him but to improve how to play with him.

“We won’t re-model his game, it is impossible to re-model his game. But we want to adapt the team and teach the team how to use his best qualities, because his game is his game.”
