Chelsea line up final £40m Rooney bid

The Wayne Rooney saga is far from over as Chelsea are reportedly readying a final £40m bid in a hope to land the United man at the Bridge. Although Moyes and a whole lot of Manchester United players have admitted that Rooney will stay and have also talked about the potential title winning team if the England International stays at Old Trafford, Chelsea are going all out to make one last bid.

Espn reports that, Chelsea are reportedly preparing to launch a final bid of £40 million for Wayne Rooney within the next two days. Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he sees Rooney as the last piece of his Chelsea puzzle, and wants him as his No. 9. Owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to offer Rooney a four-year deal with wages of £300,000 a week.

Other Headlines:

Chelsea will be sending youngster Stipe Perica on a loan move to Dutch side NAC Breda. The 18 year old youngster joined the Blues from NK Zadar this month.

The talented striker has scored 10 goals in 23 matches in his debut campaign for the club, convincing the Blues to make a move for him. Chelsea have already sent four players on loan this summer for want of gametime and Perica seem to be the next one in the line.

As Chelsea get ready to face Aston Villa tomorrow, their manager Jose Mourinho has hailed his side’s performance against Hull City on Sunday. He has mentioned that the intensity with which Chelsea played in the first half was incredible and that it was some of the best football displayed by the side under him. This is not the first time though that Mourinho has taken the managerial role of the club with the Portuguese being in charge of the proceedings at Stamford Bridge from 2004-07 winning the league twice. But he did not forget to mention that all the good deeds of the team disappeared in the second half and the team played in a pretty mediocre fashion.

“I’ve played so many times here and won so many matches here but we’ve not had so many periods here like that quality. I’m very happy. When I saw the second half going in another direction, at the beginning I was frustrated because I want more but, after five minutes, I thought we didn’t because we couldn’t. We can’t play that way for 90 minutes – we had no energy, no physical energy and no mental availability to play that way.

The three boys behind Fernando Torres were fantastic. In the second half they disappeared. All of them played national team matches: Kevin De Bruyne, 85 minutes v France, Oscar, 80 minutes v Switzerland, Eden Hazard, 80 minutes against France. When the creativity disappeared, we lost the danger in our game but the game was already dead when I made the changes,” he told the reporters.

After three seasons with Real Madrid, which were at the most modest in Mourinho’s standards, the Special One is now back with the London club carrying the huge burden of expectations of the fans. This season would certainly be test for Mourinho to keep hold of his reputation which has taken a hit at Real Madrid over the last three seasons.
