Do Chelsea Have the Chance of Winning the Champions League After Landing Highly Rated Manchester United Target?

Share

The internet is a great place for memes and one particular picture recently caught the fancy of many internet users or at least football followers. It showed Eva Carneiro carrying the Champions League trophy won by Chelsea and the caption stated how Eva had won the Champions League with Chelsea and Jose hadn’t, that would be something that hurts Jose a lot.

Jose Mourinho

Jose has always wanted to win the Champions League with his beloved Chelsea, but that doesn’t seem to be something that can happen anytime soon. The club has won the title but not when Jose was in charge. He probably wants to get that elusive title under his belt but with this squad, it might not be possible.

The European dream

Chelsea would love to repeat the feeling of winning the Champions League but after the start of this season, it doesn’t seem likely that they would be able to win anything this season. Jose however, is a talented manager and if anyone can turn things around he can but are Chelsea strong enough to win the Champions League?

The one thing that most people have worried about regarding this Chelsea team is the lack of investment in the squad, Begovic and Falcao coming in doesn’t really improve the squad while the signing of Rahman might take some time for the former Bundesliga player to gel with the team. There are some news reports stating that Chelsea have signed the Barcelona winger Pedro and that would greatly help their chances of winning something this season.

Eden Hazard

Chelsea though is heavily reliant on the likes of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, Costa hasn’t been at his best since the end of last season due to a lack of fitness and injury related issues. The Spanish striker is a beast when he is 100% fit but the problem is that he is never 100% and does not look the same this season. He does have the fire in his belly to take on defenders but if he isn’t at his best, then he is just some weight being carried about by the team.

Pedro would need to click from the first game to help Chelsea out, but the omens do not look good for the Premier League champions. Their progression into the next round of the Champions League would depend on the group they are provided and with the extra games being played by the team, the squad is going to be stretched a whole lot more, which could lead to tiredness and a great number of injuries.

Pedro

Chelsea might have one of the best playing XIs in the country but they do not have one of the best squads and that is something which will hurt them in the long run.
