Does Chelsea have Another Hazard From Belgium? Everything You Need To Know About The Youngster

Share

Chelsea does seem to have a history of loaning out players and not really doing much with them after that. They have often sent out more than 20 players out on loan in one season and another star in the making, who was sent out on loan, was Charly Musonda.

The Belgian footballer was sent out on loan to Real Betis in January 2016 and he has been incredible for the La Liga side. He has almost become a cult figure at the side as many fans are actually wearing Musonda masks to games and he seems to be getting better as each game progresses.

Musonda can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger and the 19-year-old made 16 appearances for the La Liga side in the league campaign last season. Though his career started with Anderlecht’s famed youth setup when he was just 15-year-old, he was linked with a lot of big clubs of Europe.

The attacker signed a deal with Chelsea in 2012 and he joined the youth setup at Stamford Bridge with his two brothers as well. He didn’t get a lot of chances to impress in London and was sent out on loan in 2016.

One of Chelsea’s best prospects

Such tags as “the best youngster” or “the future Messi” seem to be a norm for any half decent player to come out from a youth system. There have been way too many players who have fallen away after making their debut for a big team or even in the first team but Musonda seems to be the real deal for the Blues.

In his professional debut for Betis against Valencia, the Belgian was award the man of the match and a week later, he even scored his first professional goal against Deportivo La Coruna. The greatest strength that Musonda has is his dribbling, which makes him a threat against defenders in one on one situations.

The 19-year-old also has excellent ball control and pace, which has been the prime reason he has played games for the first team at Betis. Musonda is someone who likes to have a pop at goal from distance as well, though his goal scoring record suggests otherwise since he only has had one goal in his time at the La Liga club.

Musonda didn’t have the option to make his move to Betis a permanent one and that means the youngster hopes to have a future at Chelsea next season. Had Jose Mourinho been at the club next season, that would have been a big problem but with Antonio Conte at the helm, it might give a few more chances to the budding youngsters at the Stamford Bridge club.

The Belgian is just one a plethora of stars coming out from the country and Musonda could well be another player who can reach the heights of Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne in the future.
