Celtic FC News: Celtic assistant manager, John Kennedy, has labelled James Forrest as the Hoops‘ ‘unsung hero’. (h/t The Sun)

Forrest- an irreplaceable asset for Celtic

The Scots’ winger has been pivotal for Neil Lennon’s side in pursuit of a historic treble.

Forrest scored a brilliant goal in last Sunday’s Old Firm derby, which helped the Bhoys defeat Rangers 2-1.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has bagged 12 goals and 9 assists across all competitions.

Since joining the Hoops in 2010, he has lived up to the billing and is bound to go down in the history books as one of the best forwards to don the Scots’ shirt.

Kennedy believes Forrest’s humble demeanour to be one of his best qualities.

He doesn’t really want the limelight. He doesn’t like to put himself out there. He just plays his football.

“Even around the training ground, James is quiet and he does his work

Kennedy also added that Forrest would always look to concentrate on the game and never let the success and plaudits get to his head.

He further praised the Scotsman’s development and confidence, despite getting hindered by injuries at times.

He’s one who has been here for a long time, has come through our system, and knows what it is all about.

“In the main, he’s given us some massive goals, but as part of the team, he’s really important to us.”

The Celt’s assistant coach further praised Forrest’s derby goal, which wasn’t easy for any player.

He also heaped praise on youngsters Kristoffer Ajer and Kieran Tierney for their impact this season and promised that the club would bring in more talents in the future.
