‘Can we bring back Pellegrini and Dzeko?’ Man City Fans React To Late Win Over Bournemouth+Player Ratings

Manchester City left it very very late to emerge victorious against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, on Saturday afternoon.

Much to the surprise of many, it was the Cherries who took the lead, through a wonderfully hit half-volley from Charlie Daniels in the 13th minute. But, the lead did not last for long though, as Gabriel Jesus equalized for the visitors, eight minutes later.

And when it looked like the Sky Blues were going to be held to a draw, they struck the winning goal late in the game – seven minutes into the stoppage time to be precise through last week’s saviour Raheem Sterling, via a deflection off Andrew Surman, to take home all three points.

It was far from a perfect performance from the Citizens and here’s how their players fared on the day;

Ederson – 6/10

No way he was stopping Daniels’ fierce strike. Denied Jermain Defoe soon after. Not tested a great deal later.

Danilo – 7/10

Had a shot saved in the first period. Was always available on the overlap, played a huge role in the winner, picking Sterling out with precision.

Vincent Kompany – 6.5/10

Marshalled the defence well, never really looked troubled, apart from a couple of occasions against Joshua King. Booked in the second half.

Nicolas Otamendi – 6.5/10

Was pretty solid defensively, except for that one moment when he allowed Defoe through on goal. Saw a header cannon back off the post. Booked late on.

Benjamin Mendy -7/10

Made his debut for the Citizens, and looked slightly off the pace in the opening exchanges, but grew into the game as minutes passed by. Played a number of dangerous crosses from the left.

Fernandinho – 6.5/10

Gave the ball away leading to King’s effort that hit the post. Apart from that blip, he was solid and steady in midfield.

Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10

The summer recruit made his first start of the season and looked bright on occasions, winning the free-kick leading to the opener. Looked tired and was taken off in the second half.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10

Is yet to hit his stride this season. But the signs are encouraging for the Citizens as he looked bright and lively.

David Silva – 7.5/10

Great through ball for Jesus leading to the opener. Was involved in everything good that City conjured up in the attack.

Raheem Sterling – 7/10

Looked to make things happen each time he got on the ball. Was the saviour for the Sky Blues again, scoring the late winner. Sent off after picking two yellows late in the game – one for a foul, another for his celebration.

Gabriel Jesus – 7/10

Smart run and finish to equalize in the first period. Looked lively for large parts of the game.

Substitutes

Sergio Aguero – 6/10

Came on for Silva after the hour-mark. Went down easily looking for a penalty, which was rightly not given.

Leroy Sane – 7/10

Replaced Jesus with seven minutes left. Added a spark and did cause some problems to the Cherries.

John Stones – NA

Replaced Silva for the final minute.
