Bye bye Ibe? 3 Ideal replacements for the exit-bound Bournemouth star including 22-goal Championship sensation

Bournemouth opinion: Three players who can replace Jordon Ibe

The Shields Gazette and the Guardian has reported that Bournemouth are ready to let Jordon Ibe go, with the former Liverpool man failing to make an impact. A club record move in 2016 saw the 23-year-old join then with a lot of pomp and celebration.

But the move hasn’t gone according to plan for either side, with Ibe taking a year and a half to score his first goal. Since then things have gotten even worse for the 23-year-old star, with him making 24 appearances this season and scoring just three goals.

It’s one of the many reasons why Bournemouth struggled during that period, where a lot of their first-team wide players out injured. However, now that the club is looking to let him go, they have to add replacements or else face the wrath of losing depth in a key area.

But for a club like Bournemouth and with their budget, it has to be affordable stars, which is what the three players below are.

Jarrod Bowen

So much has been said about the 22-year-old over the course of this season and given the season Bowen had, who can blame them. The Hull City star finished as their top scorer by a large margin with 22 goals and his competition was Frazier Campbell with 12.

It shows the difference in class and finishing between Bowen and the rest of the club. However, his attempt at a golden boot will have to wait another season with Teemu Pukki outdoing him by seven goals.

Yet at the same time, Bowen won’t be too upset with his 22 goals, although he might consider trying to up his game. A centre-forward, the 22-year-old has done well and it’s one of the reasons why Bournemouth should consider him.

Said Benrahma

Another player who had a fantastic season, the 23-year-old will walk away from the season as one of Brentford’s best players. He finished with 10 goals and 15 assists which makes him the Championship’s top playmaker.

No Bournemouth player recorded more assists. Combine that with his work ethic, speed and raw power in the final third and it makes him arguably one of the best options for Bournemouth.

They’ve used the Championship very well in the past with the likes of Chris Mepham, David Brooks and even Benik Afobe all flourishing. So it stands to reason that someone like Benrahma can do the same.

Joe Lolley

He finished as the club’s second top scorer and their top creator in 51 appearances over the course of the season. It’s an incredible total which saw him contribute to 23 goals in all competitions, which makes him the perfect man to replace Jordon Ibe.

Combine that with a brilliant work-ethic, a career spanning 189 appearances with 61 goal contribution. It’s one of the many reasons why a move makes a lot of sense for the Cherries.
