Aston Villa

Bruce to make 3 changes – Predicted 4-4-1-1 Aston Villa XI to face Preston North End

Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Preston in the Championship

An inconsistent Aston Villa face bottom club Preston North End in this midweek’s Championship game at the Villa Park. Steve Bruce’s men claimed a 1-1 draw away at Bristol City this weekend and Birkir Bjarnason scored for them late in the first half.

They face a Preston team who are rock bottom in the table and have lost their last four league games. The away side are coming into this game low on confidence and are bereft of quality on most occasions. Hence, this should be a game where Villa must do better and get a win which could revitalise their season.

Team News

Keinan Davies and Scott Hogan are back in training but may not be included for this game. Harry McKirdy is still out for some time while Tammy Abraham injured his calf on Saturday. He will be tested before being considered for Tuesday night.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Steve Bruce

Orjan Nyland (GK)

The Norwegian is still struggling to really put a run of consistent performances in goal. He needs to get better.

Ahmed ElMohamady (RB)

The Egyptian was benched on Saturday but could be back for this game to face Preston.

James Chester

James Chester (CB)

Chester is the leader at the back and has done well this season, dominating opposition strikers and making clearances.

Mile Jedinak (CB)

With Elphick loaned out to Hull City, Jedinak needs to play at centre-back more often than not. The Aussie has done well to adapt to his new position this season.

Neil Taylor (LB)

Hutton’s age won’t really allow him to play two games in the space of four days. Hence, we might see Taylor start at left-back in this game.

John McGinn

John McGinn (CM)

The youngster has been one of the best players in the Villa setup this season. Expect him to play a big role.

Glenn Whelan (CM)

The veteran may get to start this game after being benched for the previous few.

Jack Grealish (LW)

The talisman of the team is yet to really set fire with his performances, but he still remains the key member in the team.

Conor Hourihane (CAM)

The Irishman did well in that advanced midfield role against Bristol. He should continue here.

Jack Grealish

Yannick Bolasie (RW)

This could be the game for Bolasie to start for Villa after joining them this summer.

Jonathan Kodjia (ST)

Kodjia hasn’t been in great form at all but with Abraham picking up a knock in the last game, the former could start.
