Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Sheffield Wednesday

Aston Villa restored some confidence, much to the relief of the fans, with a 2-0 victory over Rotherham United at Villa Park on Tuesday. They now face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in a bid to get another three points and start the road to recovery.

Steve Bruce made a system change in the last game, playing with two strikers up front and deploying Jack Grealish on the left wing. Yannick Bolasie came off the bench to score the second goal and add the icing to the cake.

Team News

Scott Hogan is back in training but may not be included for this game. Keinan Davis and Harry McKirdy are still away from joining the first-team. We may see Bolasie get his first start on Saturday.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Steve Bruce

Orjan Nyland (GK)

Got his first clean sheet against Rotherham and is slowly starting to restore his confidence.

Ahmed Elmohamady (RB)

Looked a tad untidy while playing on the right wing but his performance at right-back was better defensively. Assisted Bolasie’s goal.

James Chester

James Chester (CB)

A calm and composed figure at the back for Villa, the team needs him to be at his best to thwart the opposition strikers.

Mile Jedinak (CB)

The Aussie has done well to adapt to his new position at centre-back and be a solid presence.

Neil Taylor (LB)

Alan Hutton played at left-back on Tuesday, however, the veteran may not have the legs to play two games in four days. Hence, a chance for Taylor could be on the cards.

Jack Grealish (LW)

Bruce changed his position to left-wing, and the youngster responded by putting up a stellar show. He may continue there on Saturday.

John McGinn

John McGinn (CM)

One of the best players at Villa this season, McGinn continues to impress in central midfield. He has quickly become a key member of the squad.

Conor Hourihane (CM)

An assured display alongside McGinn in central midfield would have delighted the manager. As a result, Hourihane may get an extended look in the side.

Yannick Bolasie (RW)

The Everton loanee may get his first start after coming off the bench and scoring against Rotherham.

Jonathan Kodjia

Jonathan Kodjia (ST)

A much-improved performance on Tuesday. It’s possible that the two-striker formation helped him.

Tammy Abraham (ST)

Scored his first goal for Villa and looked sharp in the attack. Bruce would be hoping more from the Chelsea loanee.
