Celtic progressed to the finals of the Scottish Cup, when they beat Old Firm rivals Rangers 2-0 at the Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Callum McGregor opened the scoring in the 11th minute itself, with a first-time left-footed finish, for the Bhoys. And five minutes into the second period, Scott Sinclair made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, after substitute Leigh Griffiths was fouled in the box.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will face Aberdeen in the finals of the Cup and stand a good chance of completing a domestic treble, first time since 2001, having already won the League Cup and the Scottish Premiership. Here is how the Celtic players fared on the day:
Made two good stops to deny Kenny Miller and another decent effort to stop Joe Dodoo late in the game. Quiet day other than that.
Started the move for the opener with a fine long ball from deep. Tested on occasions defensively, but stayed strong. Reliable display.
Did not give Joe Garner an inch throughout the game. Was solid and strong in the air as well. Looked good with the ball at his feet too.
Had an easy first period, but was given some things to worry about in the last half an hour. Booked for a wild tackle on Barrie McKay.
Gave Waghorn and McKay hardly any breathing space in another typically solid defensive effort. Assured in possession too.
Another dominant display in the middle of the park, constantly breaking up play with smart interceptions. Swept up everything that came his way with relative ease.
Came so very close to scoring in the first-half with a lovely curled effort. Kept things moving and was given the space to direct the play for Celtic.
Justified his selection ahead of James Forrest with an excellent display on the right-flank. Tormented the Gers defence with his running and skill. End product was quality too. Ran the show.
Opened the scoring with a composed finish, bossed Andy Halliday in midfield. Showed he can become a vital player for Celtic.
Cut inside from the left-flank well and linked up with his fellow attackers. Beat Wes Foderingham from the penalty spot in the second period.
Showed great strength and skill to set McGregor up in the first-half. Posed a few problems, but saw his afternoon cut short with a hamstring problem in the 28th minute.
Replaced the injured Dembele near the half-hour mark. Did well to win the penalty in the second half and forced several saves from the Rangers keeper.
Came on for McGregor for the last fifteen minutes. Hit the post late on.
Replaced Roberts with less than 10 minutes left to play.
