Brilliant Monreal – The Best And The Worst Rated Arsenal Players From The 2-0 Win vs West Brom

Share

Full Time: Arsenal 2-0 West Brom

Arsenal continued their recovery from a shaky start to the Premier League season, when they defeated Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, on Monday night.

It took 20 minutes for the Gunners to take the lead, when an Alexis Sanchez free-kick from the edge of the box struck the bar, only for Alexandre Lacazette to head in the rebound from close range. The Frenchman doubled his and his team’s tally after the break, converting from the penalty spot, to seal the three points on the night.

The result means Arsene Wenger’s side move into the 7th place in the league table, with 10 points from 6 games. And here’s how the Arsenal players fared on the night:

Arsenal Player Ratings

Petr Cech – 7/10

Brilliant tipped save to deny Jay Rodriguez. Was beaten on one occasion, but Nacho Monreal bailed him out. Otherwise, solid.

Laurent Koscielny – 6.5/10

Passing was off at times and on occasions was targeted by the West Brom forwards. But held his fort well and came out with a clean sheet.

Shkodran Mustafi – 6/10

Lucky not to have conceded a penalty, after a silly foul in the box on Rodriguez. Lackadaisical passing at times. Decent overall.

Nacho Monreal – 9/10

Made a great clearance off the line to keep Rodriguez out in the first-half. Did not put a foot wrong all night and bombed forward with great vigour on a couple of occasions as well.

Hector Bellerin – 7/10

Got forward well, but could not make a great deal of impact. Steady and solid while defending.

Mohamed Elneny – 7/10

Was always looking to get on the ball and drive his team forward in the first-half, when he exploited the space between the lines very well. Kept things ticking after the break. Another solid display.

Granit Xhaka – 6/10

An average performance in the middle of the park from the Swiss. Passing wasn’t always crisp, conceded possession at times.

Sead Kolasinac – 7.5/10

A fighter that he is, Kolasinac has added an edge to this Arsenal side. Unafraid to get into physical battles, which he seems to win more often than not, bursts forward at pace and defends solidly.

Aaron Ramsey – 7/10

Starting in an advanced role, the Welshman worked really hard, but without much results to show for. Did win the penalty for the second goal.

Alexis Sanchez – 7.5/10

Great free-kick leading to the opener. There were a couple of brilliant passes in behind the defence and was involved in almost every attacking move. But his decision-making was at times very frustrating to watch.

Alexandre Lacazette – 8.5/10

Great anticipation and awareness to score from the rebound. Dispatched his penalty after the break, with such calm and composure. Could not top it with a hat-trick though.

Lacazette scored a brace as Arsenal somehow brushed aside West Brom

Substitutes

Olivier Giroud – N/A

Replaced Lacazette in the 83rd minute. Wait for the 100th goal continues.

Mesut Ozil – N/A

On for Sanchez in the 84th minute. Didn’t have too much to do as the game was already won.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – N/A

Replaced Ramsey in added time and the whistle blew as soon as he came on.
