Brilliant Martial – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester United Players From Their 2-0 Win Over Burnley

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United managed to conquer one of the toughest grounds in the Premier League to travel, just days after their toiling victory over Anderlecht in the Europe league. First half goals from Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial were enough for the Red Devils to take all three points from the Turf Moor this weekend as they prepare themselves for a push into the top-4 come the end of the season. There were some excellent individual performances on the night by Mourinho’s men and here are the player ratings for his side:

David de Gea (6):

Was hardly tested by a less than impressive Burnley attack on a rather comfortable night for the Spaniard.

Matteo Darmian (6):

Started on the right side of the defence to cover for injuries and stuck to his task well, trying nothing fancy.

Eric Bailly (8):

Playing his seventh consecutive game for United in almost a month, Bailly was superb yet again against the likes of Andre Gray, putting in a solid shift and helping his side to a clean sheet.

Daley Blind (4):

Was the weak link at the back for United as he was often caught out of position, time and again allowing Burnley to get beyond their defensive line.

Ashley Young (6):

Stuck to his task well on the left-flank and though not creative enough in the final third, helped his side see off the game.

Marouane Fellaini (7):

Put himself about in the midfield and made it hard for Burnley to dominate the game, acting as the deepest midfielder on the night for United to good effect.

Ander Herrera (7):

Yet another impressive performance from the Spaniard who picked up a sumptuous assist for Martial’s opener and helped to shut down at the back late in the game.

Paul Pogba (7):

Was hardly tested at the back, so was a constant influence in front of goal as Manchester United managed to dominate the ball in Burnley’s half.

Jesse Lingard (6):

Was more effective off the ball than he was on it and needs to improve on his final delivery if he wants to keep the trust of the manager.

Anthony Martial (7):

Scored his first goal in over two months and was a constant threat for Burnley all night as the Frenchman looked in decent form in front of goal.

Wayne Rooney (6):

Though not a convincing finish, Rooney will claim the goal that put United two up on the night and will hope that it can push him back into the first team from now to the end of the season.

Subs:

Marcus Rashford (6):

Added some gile to the United attack just as they were starting to look flat late in the game.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (6):

Confident on the ball and a threat in front of goal for Burnley right till the final whistle.

Michael Carrick:

A time-wasting substitute by Jose Mourinho.
