Brighton Should Sign Moussa Dembele From Celtic – Here Is Why

Brighton are reportedly interested in a move for Celtic’s Moussa Dembele. The newly-promoted Premier League side have made quite a splash in the season so far but of late, their growth seems to have stunted a bit. Sitting at 13th spot right now, the club could use some reinforcements in order to see their aspirations through. With the January window coming up, Chris Hughton is understood to have identified Dembele as a potential target.

It might seem highly unlikely for the Scottish giants to let their star man leave with the rest of the season ahead. Furthermore, it also seems unlikely for the player to leave Celtic to join a club that is yet to establish themselves in the Premier League. However, the fact that Brighton are even considering a move for Dembele only goes to show that the Scots are not in the best of positions either.

Celtic simply do not boast of a similar stronghold over their players anymore. Earlier, they lost some of their prized assets to fellow European elite but of late, they have lost players like Fraser Forster, Ki Sung Yeung, Gary Hooper, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Ledley to clubs like Southampton, Swansea, Norwich, and Crystal Palace. Moreover, if the Seagulls manage to pull off the deal to sign Dembele, it would be a bigger sign of the seemingly declining state of Scottish football.

That said, Dembele has been one of their key players when it comes to goal-scoring. In fact, he scored a stunning 32 goals in his debut season itself and could do wonders if he were to make the move to join Brighton. However, the price could prove to be an issue since Celtic will not let their prized asset move for a cheap rate.

However, Hughton should most certainly push for the deal, especially after failing to bring in some recognised goal-scoring options. The club needs more players that can do the job up front, especially with the fixtures and challenges getting tougher.

Hence, if Brighton can get their finances in order, they must make a move for Dembele. His pace and power up front can surely fire their attack to do a lot better – and that is something they are in dire need of. Sitting at 13th place is not exactly dangerous but the Seagulls showed intensely promising signs in the beginning of the season and perhaps Dembele could prove to be the final missing piece.
