Brighton boss Hughton wants to sign a winger and centre-back – here are 2 quality options to consider

Two players Chris Hughton must sign to complete his Brighton squad

According to a report, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton wants to sign a winger and a centre-back before the transfer window slams shut.

Brighton have been one of the busiest Premier League sides in the summer transfer window as Hughton prepares his squad for the second successive season in the top-flight. The Seagulls have signed seven players in the summer and have also persuaded Solly March in extending his contract until 2022.

While Hughton might be pleased with his club’s summer recruitment drive, he needs a fourth winger and a fourth centre-back on board before the window closes.

So here are two players Hughton must consider signing to complete his squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh (AZ Alkmaar)

Brighton should make a move for AZ Alkmaar’s Iranian sensation Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

The 24-year-old was in spectacular form this past season, scoring 21 goals in 33 games to become the top scorer in the Eredivisie. He also added 12 assists.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh

The Iran international, who played at the recently concluded World Cup in Russia, is a right-winger by trade but he can play anywhere across the frontline. The 24-year-old possesses explosive pace and plays with a certain kind of directness that would undoubtedly help Brighton improve the potency of their play in the final third.

Jahanbakhsh’s World Cup performances for Iran proved that he is more than capable of stepping up to play on the big stage and Brighton must not waste much time in making a move.

James Collins (Free Agent)

Following the end of the 2017/18 campaign, West Ham opted against renewing James Collins’ contract. Now that Collins has become a free agent, Brighton must make a move for him.

The 34-year-old former Cardiff City and Aston Villa centre-back is very good and is a hugely experienced footballer who would be a brilliant back-up to the likes of Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk and new signing Leon Balogun.

Collins, the ex-Wales international may well be into the twilight of his career but he still has the quality to be an incredibly effective signing for the Seagulls, especially as he would arrive on a free transfer. He would bring a wealth of experience to Amex that would certainly help fill the void that Connor Goldson left behind by joining Rangers this summer.
