Why Brighton should sign Stephane Bahoken before the deadline

According to Brighton & Hove Independent, Brighton are in the race to sign Angers striker Stephane Bahoken before the transfer deadline in England.

Fellow Premier League side Burnley are also in the race for the player (h/t Brighton & Hove Independent), who played for Cameroon in the recently-concluded Africa Cup of Nations and did well.

Despite being from Cameroon, Bahoken has played most of his football in France. He played for the youth teams of Nizza and Nice. He then moved to Scottish side St. Mirren for a year before returning to Nice in 2014. He joined Strasbourg in 2014, before making a move to Angers last summer.

Currently, the 27-year-old still has three years left in his contract with the French side. Brighton, despite signing Neil Maupay to enhance their centre-forward department, would do well with another striker before the season starts.

Here’s why Bahoken would fulfill their requirement:

Bahoken’s versatility could be of great use

Predominantly a striker, Stephane Bahoken is comfortable playing on either side of the wing and impacting games from there. The Cameroon international is a quality forward, who has improved his game on a consistent basis during the last 12-18 months.

He played 32 league games for Angers last season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists – a decent return for a player in a lower mid-table team in the French league.

In terms of his attributes, Bahoken possesses great pace to trouble any defence around Europe. He is a good dribbler of the ball and is lethal when given the opportunity in and around the opposition box. He is also physically strong on/off the ball.

Brighton should look at this as a chance to further enhance their forward lin and sign the player before the deadline. He could either play as a lone striker or in wide areas.

Conclusion

Thus, it has to be said that the Seagulls shouldn’t hesitate to fork out the cash to sign Stephane Bahoken. It would make them serious contenders for a top-half finish, rather than just scrapping for survival.
