According to English news outlet Sun, Brighton are interested in making a move for £12million-rated Tanzania star Mbwana Samatta. The Seagulls are looking for a brand new front-man to help Glenn Murray out next season and believe that the 26-year-old is their man.
The report further adds that Brighton are not the only horse in the race, with Aston Villa, Leicester City and even Watford interested. It’s a long queue for the striker but given the state of their team, Brighton need this win and they need to make sure that it happens fast.
The Seagulls struggled towards the end of the season, dropping down from a rather comfortable 12 position all the way to 17th. Things got so bad for them, that they had to take their fortunes to the penultimate day.
Even then the Seagulls were lucky, as if results elsewhere hadn’t gone their way, things could be a lot worse right now.
But either way manager Chris Hughton was sacked and his replacement Graham Potter has a lot of work to do. He does inherit a rather impressive back-line but the less said about the front line the better.
Barring 35-year-old Glenn Murray, not one player in Brighton’s team sheet even came close to hitting double figures. Center-back Shane Duffy came second with 5 goals, while both Jurgen Locadia and Florian And one, the two other centre-forwards at the club managed just four between them.
It’s one of the many reasons why the club flopped and that needs to change or else. One way is by adding someone just like Mbwana Samatta. The 26-year-old has been at his very best this season, scoring 32 goals in 51 appearances, and he has been nothing short of brilliant for the Belgian side.
He arrived a little over two years ago at the club, scoring 66 goals in 163 games for Genk, with a large chunk of that coming this season. Samatta’s speed, power and ability on the ball will make him a great asset for Brighton, either way Graham Potter plays.
Not to mention, his creativity, while not a key part has allowed Mbwana Samatta to create goals, producing 18 assists so far at Genk. It’s why the move makes a lot of sense for Brighton and they need him, more than he needs them.

Brighton have to add new stars in the summer window or else they may not survive the Premier League, especially given the state of their team at the moment.
Someone like Mbwana Samatta will only help them move forward, and it’s a move that will do them a lot of good.
