Breaking: Small French Club Get Huge Boost Courtesy Chelsea FC

It was being discussed in detail in recent times how Les Ulis had benefited from Anthony Martial’s move to Premier League giants Manchester United. Similarly, it now seems that yet another club has benefited from a transfer this summer as well. The club in talks is Sénart-Moissy in France’s 5th division, who have received a fee of €400,000 from one of Chelsea’s transfers.

Well, the move for Papy Djilobodji from Nantes to Chelsea might have shocked many, yet the 26-year-old defender was added to the Blues’ squad as a backup for Terry, Cahill and Zouma.

The west London side failed to sign England international John Stones from Everton, which led to the move for the Frenchman.

Le Parisien featured a report in their Monday edition to showcase the impact that the deal had on the small French club, who had included a clause which would see them receive 10% of any future fee, if Nantes were to sell him.

At the time when he was sold to the Ligue 1 side in 2009, the defender had a price tag of €50,000 to his name and Laurent Le Houëzec thought it would be wise add the clause.

Six years later the clause has been triggered and his coach at Moissy at the time, Manuel Abreu was delighted and said, “He was a diamond in the rough. We had to explain to him the rules of football, but he had phenomenal qualities.”
