Breaking: Chelsea Complete £8.5m-a-year Deal

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has committed his long-term future to the Blues by agreeing a new four-year contract with the champions of England. The deal will see the Portuguese boss remain at Stamford Bridge on his £8.5m-a-year salary and it is expected to be officially announced prior to the start of the upcoming campaign.

The west London club were keen to hand Mourinho an extension after an impressive season with the team, winning the double of Premier League and Capital One Cup last term.

The club were planning to conduct negotiations with the manager during the summer and were confident it would go smoothly, as he was quite happy with the way things were working out well since his return.

Mourinho previously signed a four-year deal on his return in 2013 and has consistently himself said that he is happy at the club and not planning to move elsewhere.

Speaking in May, the former Real Madrid boss said, “Mr (Roman) Abramovich needs to be very calm. I am in his hands. I want to stay, I don’t want to leave. I am not asking for a better contract. I am very, very calm. He doesn’t need to be worried, he has me.”

“If he wants me to stay, I’m staying. When he wants me to leave, I leave. I know he wants me next season because I am working. A ten-year contract is not important.”
