Why Bournemouth should beat Leicester City to sign Mohamed Elneny

According to the Sun, Arsenal are ready to offload Mohamed Elneny in the January transfer window and value him in the region of £15m.

The report claims that Leicester City are willing to offer the Egyptian an escape route out of his nightmare at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal signed Mohamed Elneny in January 2016 and the midfielder enjoyed significant game time under former manager Arsene Wenger. The Egyptian international was a regular for Arsenal in the Europa League last season where he made 12 appearances, of which 9 were starts.

However, things haven’t been rosy under new manager Unai Emery as the Spanish manager has used him less this season. In fact, Mohamed Elneny is yet to play in the Premier League under Emery, who has preferred summer signings Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi ahead of the Egyptian.

With Arsenal ready to offload Elneny in January, Bournemouth should beat Leicester City to get the midfielder’s signature.

Bournemouth have gotten off to a flying start in the Premier League this term, sending a strong message to the top six teams that they mean business this term in the Premier League. The Cherries sit sixth in the standings with 20 points from 12 games.

However, Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth needs to churn out wins on a consistent basis to challenge for a spot in the Europa League next season.

In spite of making a solid start to the 2018/19 campaign, Bournemouth just seem to have lost a bit of momentum, losing the last two games against Manchester United and Newcastle United respectively. Eddie Howe has every reason to be disappointed with the results, especially against Manchester United as his team emerged with no points despite dominating the most parts of the game.

And for claiming a spot in Europe, Bournemouth’s priority will be to stay in the reckoning and most importantly, add a couple of players in the winter transfer window. Despite having plenty of options in the midfield, Howe would do a good job by securing the services of Mohamed Elneny from Arsenal.

Elneny, 26, is a defensive-minded midfielder who excels with his distribution and tackling. He is a player who doesn’t give less than 100% on the pitch. The Egyptian is a player blessed with a fantastic engine and a solid technique, and his presence would provide the Cherries with even more energy.

Elneny’s experience of playing in the Champions League with FC Basel and Arsenal would make him a top choice for Bournemouth, while he’ll also be able to provide cover and competition for the regular pairing of Lewis Cook and Jefferson Lerma.

Frozen out of the first-team picture by Emery at Arsenal, Elneny could be a superb long-term investment for Bournemouth. Hence, Howe must do everything in his powers to acquire the services of the Egypt international to boost his team’s chances of getting a Europa League spot.
