Bournemouth opinion: Should the Cherries go for Nathaniel Clyne?

Bournemouth’s season wasn’t all bad for the club with them finishing 13th in the Premier League. The likes of Ryan Fraser, David Brooks, Callum Wilson and even Joshua King all did brilliantly over the course of the season.

However, injuries and various other issues changed the course of their season, with the club straying away from the top-seven spot. If it wasn’t for injuries and maybe a few other stars stepping up their performances then Bournemouth would have had a chance of finishing amongst the top sides.

Things need to change for the Cherries as Eddie Howe cannot continue surviving, let alone thriving, with his current squad. It’s packed full of talented young players but also has a few ageing players.

The likes of Simon Francis, Charlie Daniels, Steve Cook, Artur Boruc and a few others have all done their share over the years but their time is up. It will be a struggle for any club in the world.

Even on their worst days, the Cherries play expansive football, which is more than what can be said about a few other sides. However, playing with players well past their prime will hurt the club and that’s something that they cannot handle at the moment.

Instead, they need reinforcements across the field but one area that really needs it is the full-back area. Simon Francis has been ruled out for a long time with an ACL injury. Charlie Daniels is 32 years old, while Adam Smith has struggled to make too much of an impact.

It’s why the club need reinforcements and taking this into account, a move for Nathaniel Clyne makes a lot of sense with Sky Sports reporting that Bournemouth are keen on a move.

The Liverpool man has done relatively well over the course of his career but has failed to lock down a place with the Reds.

He clearly doesn’t have a future at Anfield and that’s something that needs to be taken into consideration with the summer window open. Sky Sports has reported that West Ham and Crystal Palace are also in the race but it’s Bournemouth that need to win it.

Conclusion

The 28-year-old needs to look for a move away and a place at the Vitality Stadium with an up and coming team would be perfect. The fact that Bournemouth need a right-back and Clyne needs a new home, makes the move perfect.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
