Bielsa to make no changes – Strongest 4-1-4-1 Leeds United XI to face Sheffield Wednesday

Predicted Leeds line-up to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship

Leeds United would look to get back to winning ways when they meet Sheffield Wednesday this Friday at the Hillsborough Stadium. Marcelo Bielsa’s men were surprisingly subdued against Birmingham City at home to face their first league defeat of the season.

They now face a Wednesday team who were impressive away at Aston Villa last week in their 2-1 win. Hence, the Peacocks won’t find it easy away from home after a rather bad loss at home. It is good that they got a full week to prepare for this game as they were already out of the Carabao Cup in the third round.

Team News

Bielsa has a long list of key injuries to deal with when he picks the line-up for this game. Patrick Bamford, Kemar Roofe, Gaetano Berardi and Pablo Hernandez are out for long-term. Three of them are regular starters for the team. We might not see any changes, partly due to the injuries to some of the first-choice players.

Probable Leeds United XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Marcelo Bielsa

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (GK)

The 21-year-old has made a twitchy start to the season. Bielsa would hope he regains his confidence before it starts affecting the morale of the team.

Luke Ayling

Luke Ayling (RB)

The right-back has been a bit inconsistent. Hopefully, a full week of preparation should get him back on track.

Liam Cooper (CB)

The skipper needs to make sure his team gets back to doing what it does best – winning games. He has been good so far.

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The Swedish international would want to improve his overall game and be a regular starter in the team.

Barry Douglas (LB)

The adventurous left-back has been good this season. Expect him to play a big role.

Kalvin Phillips (CDM)

The midfielder has improved his game after starting the season on a slow note. Bielsa would want him to pass the ball around and also shield the back-line.

Samuel Saiz

Samuel Saiz (LAM)

The Spaniard has been one of the best players for the team, creating chances and being a crucial cog. A sure starter.

Mateusz Klich (RAM)

The Pole’s form has dipped in the last few weeks. The manager would want more from him in the upcoming games.

Jack Harrison (RW)

The youngster has done well filling the big boots of Pablo Hernandez. He should continue starting games.

Ezgjan Alioski (LW)

The Macedonian’s performance level has been on the lower side in the past few weeks. He may even lose his place if he doesn’t improve.

Tyler Roberts (ST)

The young striker has the massive boots of Kemar Roofe to fill. He would love to contribute more to the team in terms of goals.
