Tottenham Player Ratings vs Manchester City

Tittle challenge is really on! Tottenham knew that they had to at least match Arsenal if they were to stay second in the Premier League after the game against Manchester City. Arsenal had defeated leaders Leicester in the earlier game and Spurs knew they had to win if they wanted to return to the second spot and close the gap on Leicester.

Tottenham and City cancelled each other out in the first half as the sides headed into the break goalless but Raheem Sterling was adjudged to have handled the ball in the second half, which was a harsh call by the referee and Harry Kane made no mistake with the penalty awarded.

 

Iheanacho scored from a Gael Clichy cross to level the teams but Erik Lamela played Christian Eriksen through and the Dane slotted home coolly to give Spurs a 2-1 win.

Hugo Lloris 7/10

Lloris had a great game for Tottenham but couldn’t really do much to save the goal that he conceded.

Kyle Walker – 7/10

Had a good game on the right for Tottenham though he would feel that he could have done more to avoid the cross that led to the goal.

Toby Alderweireld – 8/10

Keeping Sergio Aguero quite is no easy task and Alderweireld was incredible at the back for Tottenham.

Kevin Wimmer – 8/10

The centre-back had another great game and did well to shackle the Argentine Aguero with Alderweireld.

Danny Rose – 7/10

The left-back got Tottenham on their way by winning a fortunate penalty but was good in defence as well.

Mousa Dembele – 7/10

Mousa Dembele put in another great shift for the team and quietly did a lot of good work.

Eric Dier – 7/10

Dier was brilliant in midfield for Tottenham and kept Yaya Toure well in check as the Ivorian couldn’t get a kick in the game.

Son Heung Min – 6/10

The South Korean couldn’t really do much in the first half and was substituted early in the second half.

Christian Eriksen – 8/10

The Dane was wonderful in attack for Tottenham and scored a late winner to send Spurs up to second in the league table.

Dele Ali – 6/10

The youngster couldn’t really do much in the game as he was taken care off well by the Manchester City midfield.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Scored probably the most important penalty in Premier League history for Spurs but was shackled well otherwise.

Got booked early on after coming and did well to stem the Manchester City attack.

Erik Lamela – 7/10

Produced one magical moment that could have set Tottenham for the Premier League title thanks to his assist.
