The Best And The Worst Rated Chelsea Players From The West Ham Game

Share
Antonio Conte started his Chelsea tenure with a 2-1 victory against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.Chelsea completely dominated the first half, as Hazard and Costa went close only to be denied by Adrian. The Blues started the second half brilliantly as Hazard put away a thumping penalty. However, Collins equalised late in the half. It was looking like a draw for Conte, but Costa had other plans as he put a low effort through the legs of James Collins and into the bottom corner. West Ham did bring in Dimitri Payet to regain the foothold in the game, however, the Frenchman looked short of match fitness.

Thibaut Courtois 7

Not much to do in the match but was alert enough whenever he was called into action. Brilliant command in his box.

John Terry 8

An excellent match for the Chelsea captain. Looked assured and solid alongside Gary Cahill. One of the first names on Antonio Conte’s team list right now.

Gary Cahill 7

Away fans took a dig at him for his performance at the European Champions. With Kante shielding the back four, had little to do. Was solid when the threat came his way.

Ivanovic 7

Much better than his performance last year at the same time. Looks to have found some form

César Azpilicueta 8

It was run in the box, which won Chelsea the penalty. Solid as ever. Got forward well and tracked backed when Chelsea lost the ball. One or two very crucial interceptions.

N’Golo Kante 6

Didn’t have the best start to his Chelsea career following his booking in the third minute itself. Could have also been sent off for a rash challenge on Dimitri Payet.

Nemanja Matic 7

Needs a very good season after a below-par performance last time around. Conte is desperate for him to get back in form.

Oscar 8

An excellent performance by the Brazilian midfielder. very good going forward but even better-defending when West Ham had the ball.

Eden Hazard 8

Has a lot to prove this season after the disastrous that was last year. Hammered in his penalty early in the second half. Surprising to see him substituted in place of Victor Moses.Stuck to the wings.

Willian 8

Looks to be carrying on from where he left off last season. Used his pace and dribbling abilities excellently. Went close with a trademark free-kick at the end.

Diego Costa 9

Looked fitter than the previous seasons. Troubled the West Ham defence with his direct running. Could have been sent off for a rash and reckless challenge on Adrian. Scored the all-important winner
