Arsenal Player Ratings vs Everton

Arsenal rekindled their fading hopes for a Premier League crown with a rather easy win over Everton at Goodison. The game was supposed to be keenly contested but Arsenal were far the better side and they swept the Merseyside club thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi.

Alex Iwobi, Arsenal

The Gunners remained third and are 11 points behind Leicester but more than the three points it is the performance which will please Arsene Wenger as his side easily took on an Everton team that are extremely inconsistent.

The story of the game was about Alex Iwobi as the youngster scored on his Premier League debut. We look back at the game and rate the performance of the Arsenal players.

David Ospina – 7/10

The Colombian didn’t really have too much to do in this game and would love to play every game at Goodison if this is the level of work he would have to do.

Hector Bellerin – 8/10

The Spaniard was excellent in attack and defence and he set up the second goal of the game which gave Arsenal a cushion.

Gabriel Paulista – 7/10

Gabriel did have a great game and kept Romelu Lukaku quiet in almost every single battle between them.

Laurent Koscielny – 8/10

The French defender was excellent yet again in the heart of the defence for Arsenal.

Nacho Monreal – 7/10

Another consistent and confident display from Monreal for Arsenal. He was good in defence also and did put in a few good crosses in the game.

Mohamed Elneny – 8/10

It seems that Elneny has always been part of the Arsenal team and looks like a Premier League regular.

Francis Coquelin – 8/10

A great showing by the French midfielder who bossed the Everton team in the middle of the park.

Alexis Sanchez – 6/10

Sanchez seems to have gone off the boil, not the best game from the Chilean this season.

Mesut Ozil – 7/10

The German had a great game in the first half but that all petered at the end of the match.

Alex Iwobi – 9/10

The star of the show, the youngster was extremely impressive for Arsenal and surely deserves more chances going forward.

Danny Welbeck – 8/10

Welbeck took his chance extremely well and seems to be great up front for Arsenal in the last few games of the season.

Substitutes:

Kieran Gibbs – 7/10

Gibbs was brought on to defend Arsenal’s lead and he did do a great job in ensuring Everton don’t have much to do.

Olivier Giroud – 6/10

Olivier was brought on in the second half to replace Welbeck and had only 15 minutes to show what he could do.

Calum Chambers – NA

Chambers came on as a late substitute and barely had enough time to put his stamp on the game.
