Best Premier League Transfer Xl

It’s just thirty days for the Premier League to kick off and the teams have already started the transfer season with a bang. All the major trophy contesting teams except Manchester City have added some marquee signings to their side which makes their teams a lot stronger. However, today we analyze which teams did the best dealings in last transfer markets and how did their investments pay off.

Goal Keeper And Defence

GK: Fraser Forster

The huge shot stopper was a part of England World Cup squad but never quite made it to the squad as Joe Hart and Ben Foster were handed the duties as the last line of defence. However, in August he made his switch from Scottish side Celtic to the south coast in Southampton and his progress has been amazing. Forster has been a worthwhile signing for Southampton.

LB: Aaron Cresswell

Aaron Cresswell joined West Ham from Championship side Ipswich Town and he has been an absolute bargain for the Hammers. Cresswell joined West Ham after Pablo Armero’s loan deal at West Ham expired and then left-back Razvan Rat left the club. The stage was set for Cresswell to shine and he did exactly that. Cresswell showed tremendous maturity and played for all the 3420 minutes for West Ham. His consistency and work ethic earned him laurels and praises from pundits like Jamie Carragher. Carragher wrote in his column for Sky Sports about Cresswell

“He came to West Ham from Ipswich and we wondered whether he could adapt to the Premier League but he has and, in those early months, he was a revelation.

“I don’t think a move to a ‘bigger club’ is right at this moment in time. If he continues the form he showed before Christmas and he can prolong that over two or three seasons, there’s no reason why not.”

CB: Kurt Zouma

Kurt Zouma signed for Chelsea in the winter transfer window of 2014 from St. Etienne and was loaned out to St. Etienne for the rest of the season. He became the part of the Chelsea side and was just used as a backup option during Cahill’s injury. But he proved his might and showed Mourinho that he is ready for the big stages. His first full match was against Newcastle United in January before which he just played for 57 minutes in 3 games. He became a crucial squad member and played as a centre-back and also as a defensive midfielder when his side needed him to play. A Promising talent for the future.

CB: Emre Can

Liverpool have had a pretty forgettable season and the only positive of the season has to be the German signing Emre Can.  Can prefers a defensive midfield position but was deployed as centre-half for the reds and he produced the goods. With Sakho and Lovren looking leaky at the back, Can provided the cover for them and formed a good duo with Skrtel at the back.

RB: Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld was signed on loan from Atletico Madrid and Southampton had a loan to buy offer. However, after such an amazing season Atleti decided not to sell Alderweireld for such a cheap fee and paid 2 million as a clause penalty. Alderweireld played as a centre back and formed an incredible partnership with Southampton captain Jose Fonte. They were nice, strong and tidy at the back and didn’t allow attackers to score goals on the cheap. After an impressive season, Atletico are planning to sell Alderweireld to Tottenham or Chelsea or another option would be to retain him as they have already sold Miranda, so Alderweireld will be a good cover for him.

Midfield and Attack

CDM: Daley Blind

Daley Blind arrived at Manchester United from Ajax after endearing the Eredivisie four times in a row and winning Dutch Footballer of the Year of 2014. If this wasn’t enough for his resume he was also part of Louis van Gaal’s third-placed Netherlands in the World Cup finals. He has been an amazing acquisition for the Red Devils and has been accepted by United fans and legends with gratitude. As Carrick’s career looks nearing its swansong, Blind is the go-to guy for United for at least 5 more years.

RCM: Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas was poised to join a London club and everyone believed that it would be a homecoming to Arsenal. To everyone’s surprise, he joined the Blue side of London with Chelsea. He has had a wonderful second outing in the Premier League and has assisted with absolute ease. His pairing with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard has been a delight to watch and he surely has been the key link for Chelsea’s successful season.

LCM: Ander Herrera

Another Spaniard who has had a wonderful season is Ander Herrera. Herrera joined Manchester United from Bilbao and he has been instrumental in United’s resurrection season under Louis Van Gaal. At 25 years of age, he has shown a mature head and is better to get as seasons go by.

LM: Sadio Mane

Southampton made some shrewd signings to replace their departing players. Mane becomes the third Southampton player to make it to the list. Initially, Mane did have some problems in work permit but somehow he was granted the work permit and he used his chances very well. Mane occupied the left wing and played as if he was a seasoned Premier League player. Mane also created a record for the fastest hat trick this season.

RM: Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean attacker made his switch to Arsenal for Barcelona and his season has helped Arsenal to win FA Cup for the second time in succession and the Gunners finished 3rd after having an amazing season.  He completed his amazing season with winning Copa America with a skillful penalty that helped Chile to win the competition for the first time ever.

ST: Diego Costa

Diego Costa joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid after having two really amazing seasons. Costa made an immediate impact and was talismanic in Chelsea’s title race. He was amazing all throughout the season and scored 20 goals for Chelsea in 24 matches. His season could have gone better, but injuries hampered his goal scoring tallies.
