Benitez To Make 3 Important Changes – Strongest 4-4-2 Newcastle United Line-up To Face Everton

Predicted Newcastle United Line-up To Face Everton In The Premier League

Despite a mightily impressive flag display and huge noise before kick-off, Newcastle’s 125th-anniversary celebrations were ruined by nothing other than a lack of quality and a little slice of bad luck against Leicester.

Some sections of the Newcastle support are now starting to question Rafa Benitez’s team selections, a moan which does not bode well for what will be really challenging few weeks until the club can bring in some much-needed new talents.

Newcastle will not be lacking for endeavour again, however, luck is once again not with them. Had they played Everton earlier in the season, they would have probably gone into the game as favourites.

Now, however, Sam Allardyce is in charge of Everton and has his team much better organised, meaning both sides will be well drilled and both will do the basics well enough but it’s likely that Everton’s greater quality will show up.

To avoid this, Benitez could bring Jonjo Shelvey back into the side in what is likely to be another 4-4-2 line-up featuring the following players:

Manager: Rafael Benitez

Formation: 4-4-2

GK – Rob Elliot

Rafa may well bring Elliot back after a less than impressive display by Karl Darlow against Leicester.

RB – DeAndre Yedlin

One of the poorer right-backs to represent the Toon, he’ll play again here though with fewer options being available.

CB – Jamaal Lascelles

Just about ready for a return, though it’s hard to know whether it would be Ciaran Clark or Florian Lejeune who would miss out. Clark has been in great form so it may be the Frenchman’s turn for a spell on the bench.

Jamaal Lascelles

CB – Ciaran Clark

Captained the side recently and scored at West Brom. May partner the regular skipper on his return.

LB – Javier Manquillo

He’s never a left-back and Newcastle need Paul Dummett back sharp.

RW – Matt Ritchie

Magic Matt can win a game against a team like this, just by producing one or two moments of quality from a set-piece and Newcastle may be relying on that.

CM – Jonjo Shelvey

Newcastle’s best player arguably, though he has been sitting on the bench of late for some reason. Must play here.

CM – Mikel Merino

Isaac Hayden remains an option, though the two better passers playing together may at least mean more creativity from Rafa’s men.

Joselu

LW – Jacob Murphy

Murphy is improving game by game and is a chink of light for the Toon, considering their immediate future. However, he’ll need to have a great game to help his side get something out of this.

ST – Joselu

Scored against Leicester but could hardly miss, to be honest.  The crowd will want Mitrovic, but they are likely to get the former Stoke man.

ST – Dwight Gayle

Having found his feet in the Premier League, the former Palace striker is scoring now and is looking decent.
