Barrow And Sacko Starts – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leeds United Line-Up To Face Cardiff City

Share

As Leeds United host Cardiff City on Saturday in their 31st Championship fixture of the season, they will attempt to bounce back from the defeat they suffered last weekend at the hands of Huddersfield Town with a victory over the Bluebirds.

The Peacocks are currently 5th on the log and need to be wary of dropping points with the likes of Norwich, Derby County and Barnsley close by and hoping to move into the playoff zone once the opportunity arises.

Despite winning all 6 of their last league games at the Elland Road and having last lost a Championship clash there back in November, Leeds would still have to be on top of their game against a Cardiff side that is trying to pick up every possible point in order to retain their league status at the end of the season.

With a likely touchline ban in place for Monk after the F.A charged him with improper conduct following a clash between him and Huddersfield’s David Wagner last weekend, if he would be available to bark out orders on Saturday remains unknown, but that wouldn’t stop him from naming a strong XI that could look like this for the encounter.

Formation : 4-2-3-1

GK – Green

The 37-year-old continues being the sole number 1 for goalkeeping duties at Elland Road and after his defence let him down in the clash against Town despite a fine performance, he would hope they do much better on Saturday.

LB – Berardi

Taylor still remains on the sidelines but could be available for the clash against Ipswich Town next weekend, so the Swiss defender should be making his 10th consecutive league start this weekend, and he would hope to convince again.

CB – Jansson

He remains one of the best defenders in the league and arguably Leeds’ best player of the campaign.

The Swede should be making his 23rd league start of the season against Cardiff.

CB – Bartley

The English defender has missed just 90 minutes of Championship football this term as he has been solid alongside Jansson in the heart of Leeds defence, and that partnership would be relied upon to yield a positive result on Saturday.

RB – Ayling

He also has missed just a league clash this term, but much more would be expected of him in terms of contributing to the attack having been involved in a goal just once – the least of the regulars.

CM – O’Kane

Vieira was given the nod to start the last game but wasn’t able to keep up in the 2nd half and that could give O’Kane a chance to start as the search for the permanent starter between both players not looking like one that will be ending soon.

CM – Bridcutt

Has been the best and most reliable defensive midfielder within the Leeds’ ranks so far.

Should be making another start on Saturday.

AML – Barrow

The Swansea City winger made his debut on a defeating note last weekend off the bench, but could get his first start against Cardiff after a disappointing game from Doukara in that game.

AMC – Hernandez

Roofe is back in action after missing the Town’s game to injury but might start the Cardiff game on the bench with the Spaniard continuing behind the striker instead.

AMR – Sacko

Sat out of the last clash entirely but with Dallas not impressing enough, the Malian could be returned to his position on the right of the attack on Saturday.

CF – Wood

The New Zealand striker bagged his 18th Championship goal last weekend with ease but might have to work his socks off against Saturday’s visitors to continue his fine goalscoring form.
