Dundee 1-1 Rangers: Gers miss the chance to go level at the top

Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by a 10-man Dundee at Dens Park as Steven Gerrard’s men missed a chance to go level at the top of the Scottish league, albeit having played one game more than Celtic.

Dundee took the lead through Kenny Miller in the ninth minute, and the former Rangers striker didn’t celebrate after tucking in that chance. Nathan Ralph was then sent off in the 20th minute, and the following free-kick was brilliantly scored by Andy Halliday to equalise the proceedings for the visitors.

Kyle Lafferty had an effort ruled out in the first half for offside after he converted Ryan Kent’s superb cutback.

Steven Gerrard’s men went behind when Miller went past the two Gers centre-backs Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall to get on the end of a long ball forward. The striker then clipped the shot past Allan McGregor.

Dundee defenders were well organised even after being down to 10 men for most of the game. Defender Cammy Kerr epitomised the determination and grit shown by the home side to not be beaten easily.

This result leaves them in 11th position, ahead on goal difference to St. Mirren and four points behind tenth-placed Hamilton. Meanwhile, Rangers missed an opportunity to go level with Celtic at the top of the table. They have taken only one point since going top of the league last weekend.

Here’s how the Gers fans reacted to this result, a game that was there to be won for their team. Fair to say they are not a happy bunch right now.
