According to the Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are interested in making a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Helder Costa. The Lions are looking for reinforcements as they try to survive the Premier League.
After a rather entertaining Championship season, Villa won the playoff final against Derby County to seal their return to the top tier. And to celebrate it, the club signed Wesley Morales, permanently added Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause, and signed Jota.
But that cannot be the end of their transfer business especially if the club wants to survive the Premier League for more than one season. Instead, they need to add a few other stars, players who would help them flourish in the near future.
With manager Dean Smith releasing eight players, Villa have to use the summer window effectively. However, one of their main concerns should be a new wide attacker, with Ross McCormack and Albert Adomah on the list of released players.
While they played small roles for Villa, both stars made some impact and that needs to be recreated. It’s where Helder Costa would help and the 25-year-old is a winger worth having.
The 25-year-old has as struggled to find his way into Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in the Premier League, but had no problem in the Championship.
In fact, he has arguably been one of their best players in the lower leagues, contributing to 29 goals, which includes 14 assists. More than anything, it showcases just how talented Costa is and with time, he will improve even further.
His lack of game time combined with a few other issues saw the Portuguese forward struggle in the Premier League last season, but he still made an impact.
It’s why Aston Villa need players like Costa in their side and his pace combined with the aforementioned creative vision will prove to be a big help in the near future.
Not to mention, his versatility is rather impressive, with the 25-year-old playing even as a left-back in his career. Everything will be useful for the Lions if they’re planning a long stay in the top tier.

Aston Villa need more than a few reinforcements as they prepare for life in the Premier League and adding new men has to be at the top of that list. While they will have a few targets of their own, Helder Costa should be amongst the top men as the Wolves star can make quite an impact.
