Aston Villa were linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window and one player that they should’ve got over the line was Tanzanian striker, Mbwana Samatta.
Villa already broke the bank for another forward in Wesley but the Brazilian is more of a target man and isn’t really the prolific goal poacher that they’re looking for.
Samatta has started the season for Genk in fine form as well and last season scored 32 goals in all competitions. A player like Wesley would benefit playing with a player like Samatta as he could bring the ball into play and lay it off to Samatta, who has a fantastic eye for goal.
Villa were one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League but that doesn’t always translate onto the pitch, as we saw last season with Fulham, who never got going, made a poor start and ultimately got relegated.
Villa were impressive in their first game back to the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur but they never got going after their first goal and instead of using that initiative to push on, they dropped in their intensity when they had Spurs on the ropes and capitulated in the last 20 minutes of the game.
In their first home game of the season against Bournemouth, they weren’t very good, losing the game 2-1 and it’s already looking like a long season for the Villans but with a couple of favourable fixtures on the horizon, Dean Smith needs to get his act together and start finding a way to win games.
When coming into the Premier League, the key to survival is getting an organized back-line and being hard to beat and having a player who can put chances away when they come. They have a pretty good midfield but their defence and attack haven’t looked very decisive.

They had a fantastic run to get to the playoffs and move into the Premier League but they look out of their depth so far and need to become a more organized unit in defence and attack to survive in the Premier League.
They’ve made a lot of signings but not those that fit and the Italian would’ve helped with his experience.
