Arsenal’s Predicted Lineup To Face Norwich City: Key Duo Back In The Starting XI

Share

Arsenal will be aiming to boost their top four chances as they will be welcoming Alex Neil’s side Norwich City at Emirates this Saturday.

Arsenal are currently on the 4th spot and are 5 points ahead of Manchester United who have a spare game in hand. The difference is close and Wenger will have to win all the remaining fixtures if he wants to finish in the top four.

Norwich, on the other hand, are having an another story to tell. As Arsenal battling in the top half of the table, Norwich are the contenders of this year’s relegation; sitting currently on the 18th spot. So, we can say that it is a must-win game for both the side if, they tend to achieve their seasonal goals.

Arsenal in their last six games have won 3 games and have drawn 2. Furthermore, Norwich have also won 3 of their last 6 games but have lost twice. Gunners have not lost to Norwich since 2012 while, the Canaries’ last win at Arsenal was in 1992. The last time these 2 sides met in the league was at Carrow Road where the hosts were able to hold the gunners for a 1-1 draw.

Here is the predicted lineup for Arsenal that could face Norwich City at Emirates-

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech-

Without him in the last game, the Gunners would have lost the game easily. The black cats were very dangerous in their counter attacks and their main man Defoe was a complete headache for the Big Pete. He managed to make some decent saves and his double save to that of Defoe and M’Vila was out of the world. He is an obvious choice for Arsene.

Defence: Bellerin; Gabriel; Koscielny; Monreal-

Arsenal’s defence was ripped apart by the Sunderland’s attack in their last game. Bellerin has a dreadful game . He struggled to keep hold of Khazri. He may have played a bad game but Wenger knows his abilities and might give him another start. Gabriel was replaced by Mertesacker last time and might return as the German made some horrendous mistakes and was struggling against Defoe. Koscienly is a dedicated defender, he had some tough times in the game against Sunderland but, he has too much class to be dropped. Monreal was defensively pretty good and he also displayed his offensive style in the last game and is sure to start the next game.

Midfielder: Ozil; Elneny; Coquelin; Iwobi; Sanchez-

Coquelin was dropped last time out but, Wenger might start him in the next game as Ramsey had a very bad game against Sunderland. Elneny is becoming a key player for Arsenal and Wenger cannot afford to drop him. Ozil and Sanchez are the obvious starters. Iwobi is the new spark is Arsenal’s engine. He provides energy momentum to the game. Wenger would need a strong reason to drop him against Norwich.

Striker: Welbeck-

Giroud was very poor in the last game and might be replaced by the ex-Manchester United start Danny Welbeck. Came on as a substitute and managed to dig in a shot. Starting Welbeck in their next game would be an effective option.
