Arsenal’s Andrei Arshavin Heading Back To Russia

Share

Long forgotten are the 4 goals that Arshavin thumped in the Liverpool game and the winner against Barcelona. Arshavin has found his place permanently in the Arsenal’s bench managing just 5 appearances in the league so far. When the Russians cam calling for him last summer the player decided against leaving the club in the hope to get back his form and determined to prove his worth. However, Arshavin spent the second half of the season with Zenit St Petersburg and had a decent run of games and the Russian champions are ready to re-sign Arshavin.

Russian heading back to Russia ?

The Russian’s contract at Arsenal comes to an end this season and it looks highly unlikely that Arsenal will offer a new deal for the player. Arshavin who is surely a surplus for the Gunners with the arrival of Podolski and Gervinho are even willing to listen to offers or a possible loan spell in the second half of the season. In addition, Arshavin is one of the on the club’s highest earner at around £90,000 a week and his departure would make sense for Arsenal who are trying to sign a new attacker in the form of Huntellar.

According to the Daily Mirror, Zenit are likely to bid around £3 million for a player they sold to Arsenal for £12million and will offer the Russian a two-and-a-half year deal.

Arshavin has also other admirers from England, bottom placed club Reading are willing to offer a  £60,000 a week agreement if he decides to move down there. Arshavin who declined the offer from Zenit last summer mainly because of his family commitments in London and it all depends on the player if he wants to move out of London or England itself.
