Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Barcelona outcast, Malcom, according to the Guardian. The Brazilian’s sting at Barcelona is well documented, having failed to make too many appearances since heading to the Nou Camp for a fee of £36.5m.
The Gunners were unfortunate to not make it into the Champions League places after being well poised to make the top-4 after beating Manchester United. But dropping points to the likes of Crystal Palace and Brighton at home cost them dearly.
Unai Emery will have to go into the market again and have a big summer to look towards. After making a terrible start to the season, they had an undefeated run of games that saw them make up a lot of ground.
This could be due to Unai Emery’s demands, which requires a lot of intensity and players capable of pressing the opposition. With another pre-season up their belt, the squad should be better prepared this time around.
Arsenal have a real need for wide players, with Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan being deployed there at times despite not being natural wide players.
Alex Iwobi is the only recognized player in that position but he’s possibly not of the quality that Arsenal have been used to over the years and is still quite young.
Spurs could also use some wide players but Lucas Moura’s upturn in form has seen the need for another wide player reduce in the last few months. Like Moura, Malcom can also have a similar revival in North London.
Arsenal don’t have the resources to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United with regards to transfer budgets, hence, they have to make smart signings.
Malcom joined Barcelona after catching the eye of everyone in Europe with his talismanic performances for Bordeaux. The Brazilian has impressed at times, having a fantastic game in the Copa Del Rey against arch-rivals Real Madrid but hasn’t done that consistently.
It doesn’t help that the current Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde hasn’t given the youngster too many chances.

Malcom needs a move to revive his career and Arsenal football club has been a fantastic place for helping players grow and develop in the past.
This would be a good move for the Gunners and Malcom would be getting the much-needed game that he’s been looking for since his move to the Blaugrana.
