Arsenal Vs West Brom – Player Ratings + Match Highlights

Share

Wojciech Szczesny – 7 – One shot on target from West Brom, nothing much to perform for the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Bacary Sagna – 7 – Came into the game after passing a late fitness test, did a good job

Per Mertesacker – 7 – as with the rest of the back four, he didn’t have too much to do today. He headed clear when required and made some good interceptions.

Thomas Vermaelen – 7.5 – a captain’s performance today. Managed to sort out problems caused by Long. Vermaelen looks to have recovered from his start of the season mishaps. Didn’t put a foot wrong for the whole 90 minutes.

Kieran Gibbs – 7 – good performance from the English International. Made some good tackles, however his forward runs are a little short coming for the team. Has to improve his crosses.

Mikel Arteta – 8 – After missing a crucial penalty against Swansea, showed guts to take the first penalty and convert it cooly down the middle of the goal. Took the second penalty himself after convincing Giroud and had a Deja Vu moment scoring a carbon copy of the first goal. Looks to have got his confidence back and did played perfectly as a holding midfielder role he is assigned with.

Jack Wilshere – 8 – MOTM by a long way. Wilshere says he is 70 % ready and will be back to his best by Christmas, well if 70% makes u MOTM then what will 100% do the team. He showed brilliant vision and made few surging runs forward. Should have scored in an attack which was started by him and ended up flicking past the far post. The weight of his passes, the burst of pace to beat his man and the determined, crunching tackles. He deserved a goal today.

Santi Cazorla – 8 – One small mistake from an otherwise classy performance. Cazorla showed some theatrics when he went down to win a penalty which was converted by Arteta. Arsenal always perform well if Cazorla clicks, the Spaniard combined excellently with Arteta and Wilshere.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 8 – exactly what he and the fans needed from him. His best performance of the season which I’m sure everyone hopes he can build on. His burst of pace won the second penalty and he was a threat all day.

Olivier Giroud – 6 – wasn’t his best performance but he contributed well to the team, heading clear from set pieces.

Gervinho – 6 – Showed a much improved performance than the match against Olympiacos.
