Arsenal vs QPR – Injury Updates, Wenger Interview And The Match Preview

Share

The mood at Arsenal camp is pretty low now after suffering back to back defeats. They had just one shot on target for the whole game against Schalke. That was not the Arsenel we know. They will surely look to improve their game in the final third against QPR and to score more goals. Anything less than a win will disappoint the gooners all over the world.

Team News:

Expected Lineup

Arsenal Starting Lineup

Bench: Martínez, Sagna, Koscielny, Chamberlain, Djourou, Coquelin, Gnabry, Wilshere, Arshavin, Frimpong, Chamakh

Injury Updates:

  • Jack Wilshere will (most probably) make his first Premier League appearance in 18 months after completing full 90 minutes in a 2-1 victory over Everton U-21.
  • Gibbs, Szczesny, Walcott, Diaby, Rosicky and Fabianski are all out still with injuries.
  • Chamberlain and Koscielny are still doubtful but they may feature in the game.

Wenger Comments

About losing last two games,

“At West Ham, before the international break, we looked outstanding going forward. We were dynamic.”

“Then, suddenly, we had two flat performances. It is difficult to explain.”

“Norwich defended well and we then had problems to penetrate Schalke, who were very compact. We just did not find our rhythm in the game.”

“We came out of it a bit shocked because we aren’t used to not creating chances. That’s perhaps the common denominator between the two games.”

About QPR,

“From game to game QPR are improving, You can see that against Everton.”

“You look at their team-sheet and they have good players. Mark Hughes is slowly turning them around.”

“They are a team with big potential. Our players will be conscious that it is an important game and we’ll aim to do well.”

Conclusion,

“At the moment I feel it’s more important that we take care of our potential and come back to what we think we are strong at – our team-play, our passing game and our ability to create chances.”

What to expect?

QPR will follow same strategy what Norwich used against Arsenal – Two banks of defense with some random fast counter attacks. They have some pacey players and again they will try to attack Arsenal’s right side defense (Santos) where they were vulnerable for past two games.

On the other hand, Arsenal will stick to their philosophy and will try to attack QPR from the start with their free-flowing passing game. Arsenal fans and the neutrals will hope that Arsenal can re-create the beautiful football which was totally invisible in last two games.

Prediction:

Arsenal win.
