Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Preview

Arsenal face Crystal Palace just 48 hours after Toni Pulis decided to leave the club citing non-agreement with the board’s transfer policy. Wenger on the other hand has problems of his own as he doesn’t have a fit centre back.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace – Team News:

Arsenal have confirmed that German world cup winners Mesut Özil, Per Mertesacker and Luckas Podolski will be missing the first game of the season due to lack of match fitness.

Alexis Sanchez

New marquee signing Alexis Sanchez is expected to make his debut alongside other summer signings Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers, who would play as a central defender despite being a natural fullback.

New signing David Ospina is still nursing a thigh injury meaning Damian Martinez is expected to be on the bench. Long term absentees include Theo Walcott, Ryo Miyaichi and Serge Gnabry. Koscielny is expected to be fit for the game.

Crystal Palace would be ruing their loss of a strong manager. They have some injury concerns themselves as Adrian Marriapa is doubtful while Damien Daleney is set to miss the match because of a knock.

New signings Brede Hangeland and Fraizer Campbell would be handed debuts. The Eagles would miss young midfielder Jonny Williams due to injury. Maraoune Chamakh, would be all set to face his old team again.

Style of Play expected:

Arsenal are expected to dominate the game with both possession and chances. Crystal Palace will rather look to defend deep and counter.

It would be very tough for Palace without their manager Pulis who taught them to fight and defend. They have instantly become relegation candidates.

Predicted Lineup
