Arsenal Transfers: Why Signing This Superstar Who Missed The World Cup Would Be An Icing On The Cake

Share

With Arsenal being linked to Marco Reus in the last few days, the Arsenal fans are understandably ecstatic about the prospect of another world class talent joining them. After all there is indeed no doubt that the Borussia Dortmund man is indeed a world class talent and was desperately unlucky to miss out on the 2014 World Cup with such a late minute injury.

With Arsenal no longer having constraints in the transfer window like before, buying Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in consecutive seasons is a proof to that, it is very much conceivable that Arsene Wenger will not only push for buying Marco Reus but in all possibility will get the transfer deal done as well. Here at Soccersouls we take a look as to why Arsenal should definitely go for this winger from Borussia Dortmund.

A genuine world class left winger:

There are very few world class left wingers in world football right now and perhaps Marco Reus is indeed one amongst the top three. A tricky winger with bags of pace he would seamlessly fit in at any team in world football right now. At Arsenal he would especially be a right fit given Arsenal do not even possess a natural left winger. Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla can play in that position but it is not the best position for either of them with Podolski more inclined to play as a striker while Cazorla is much better at his favourite central attacking midfield position. Marco Reus would probably make Arsenal the best attack minded midfield in all of England.

A world class talent in his prime:

Marco Reus at 25, is in his prime footballing years and has at least a solid 5-6 years ahead of him. With Arsenal building a team with players in their prime (Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey to name a few) Marco Reus looks to be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle of the team that Arsene Wenger has been looking to build. Although the Gunners lack a defensive midfielder in the team, adding Reus would simply mean that they can outscore teams the way Liverpool did last season.

From the 30 league appearance that he has made last season for Dortmund, Reus managed to score 16 goals and assist for 13 other goals, while creating as much as 90 chances for his team mates. This is the effect that he can have on Arsenal. Adding Reus would mean that, Arsenal’s lackluster forward Olivier Giroud would have world class supply from all round the park making his job more simpler.

Final statement of intent:

With everyone already taking Arsenal as a threat with their recent acquisition of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this transfer will be indeed the cherry on the top that Arsene Wenger and all the Arsenal fans has been dreaming about. Perhaps apart from being the final push needed to take Arsenal to Premier league and Champions League glory this transfer will indeed be the psychological edge needed to take on the mantle as one of the best teams in the world. A team which would arrive after a decade of hard work by Arsene Wenger to move to a bigger stadium, clearing the debts and finally turning his vision into reality, which will indeed take the world by storm and Wenger will be the protagonist of this Arsenal revolution.
