Arsenal Transfers: 3 Reasons Why Wenger Has Got It Right With This £12m Man

Share

Arsenal fans are simply ecstatic this transfer window around with fresh and talented prospects being brought in while the under-performing lot are shown the door. Arsene Wenger and his staff have put in a lot of hard work to scout players of the highest standard.

Following the high profile signing of Chilean superstar, Alexis Sanchez, Newcastle United player Mathieu Debuchy has come through on a deal to be worth around £12m. His key role in the French squad in the recently concluded World Cup 2014 in Brazil attracted the attention of this budding full-back and with Sagna signing over at Blue Manchester, a replacement of a right-back was in order.

1.     Suited to Gunners Way of Playing

As we’ve always seen, Arsenal tends to always play a high-low tempo changing game. With that being said, you would expect the flanks to place players of extremely high quality pace, both midfield and defense considered. The Frenchmen fits firmly into that category and actually outperforms Sagna. Leaving out physicality, his dream runs down the flanks to provide support to the attack while tracking back at the same time and covering a chunk of the back all on his own is pretty amazing. He’s well suited to the Arsenal way of playing and will fall in comfortably once the new season kicks off.

2.     Strength and Speed to Kick it up a Notch

Standing tall on the brink of the box, 5ft and 10’ of rock hard steel is what Debuchy packs. A tussle in the box to shrugging off those tiring runs down the middle are what this Frenchman is capable of. With the agility of an attacker, he can push up the field and provide support to the attacking front. And when in the opposition box, aerial battles are pretty much his biggest strength and might add some flair to Wenger’s squad.

While his performance for the Magpies last season has been time and again portrayed, his stint with France in the recently concluded World Cup was equally good. From the 4 appearances he made in Brazil, Debuchy manged to win 60% of his duels and an average 6 defensive actions per game and what’s more impressive is that, he manged to keep the former Arsenal ace Bacary Sagna on the bench as he was Didier Deschamps’ preferred man to start at right back. 3.     Team Player and Spirited Energy Levels

Basically, with the side being thrown into a circle of fresh players and a retained squad, team chemistry is to be adjusted to a normal level and with Debuchy finally in, you can expect the same Arsenal with no difference. He’s a big team player and will understand the dynamics of each game and boost the confidence of the back four which is absolutely necessary. He’s young and energetic and will get on the ball much more than usual. His performance reflects the entire club in a way and with such good qualities in a defender of such caliber, expectations will definitely be high for the coming season.
