The festive season is upon us and this means one thing, more and more football for all. The Premier League is the only top league which does not feature a Christmas break and while it is fun for us, spare a thought for the players who can end up playing close to 3 games in just 7 days. This however is the time which can make or break a league for a club, they have to cope with the demands of travel and play in near freezing temperatures. The top clubs have the squad strength to cope with this and here are the predictions for the top clubs on Boxing Day.
Chelsea vs. West Ham United
A look at the teams and you would think it is going to be a cake walk for Chelsea but West Ham have been the surprise package of the Premier League. The Hammers sit in 4th place and have done extremely well in the league, the match will be a tough one for the Hammers though, Chelsea seem to be rolling along quite well and should win this comfortably especially thanks to assist king Cesc Fabregas, who already has 12 assists to his name in the Premier League.
Burnley vs. Liverpool
Liverpool believe they have turned a corner thanks to their 2-2 draw against Arsenal. Martin Skrtel, bloodied and bandaged scored the equalizer in the 97th minute of a frenetic game. It seems Brendan Rodgers has found a new 3-4-3 formation and they seem much better in attack with Sterling playing as the striker. They should just be able to defeat Burnley, who have been decent at home; however Liverpool should be a little too strong for them.
Manchester United vs. Newcastle United
Manchester United drew against Aston Villa when they should have won the game as Villa were reduced to 10 men but the silver lining was Falcao scoring the goal to draw them level. They take on a Newcastle side which lost at home to Sunderland in the derby. Manchester United love playing against Newcastle and should win the game easily being backed by a vociferous home crowd.
West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester City
Even without Sergio Aguero playing for the Citizens, they defeated Crystal Palace 3-0, it was a laboured display but a win is a win. West Brom have been alright under Alan Irvine and Saido Berahino has been the main threat for the side but City, with David Silva in the form of his life should be too much for the Brom.
Arsenal vs. Queens Park Rangers
Arsenal must be feeling a little sick; they were so close to defeating Liverpool but conceded a sloppy equalizer against the Merseysiders. Queens Park Rangers will be buoyed by the fact that Charlie Austin is back in the squad and he scored a hat trick in the last game. Out of all the fixtures, this one should be a cracker with goals a plenty, Arsenal should just nick it but there will be a lot of goals, that’s a given.
