Why Arsenal Should Target This Real Madrid Star to Replace Santi Cazorla?

Arsenal cannot get a break this season, well not in a good way at least. The Gunners picked up a couple of significant injuries against Norwich, while Alexis Sanchez would be out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, the injury to Santi Cazorla was expected to be for a few days, but that seems to have changed with news that he could have ligament damage and that could well mean an absence for a few months.

That will be bad news for Arsenal players seeing that they already lost out Mikel Arteta and more recently Francis Coquelin to long term injuries. All this would be damaging their chances of winning the Premier League or even more this season. Every Arsenal fan would want a chance of seeing Wenger pick up the Premier League crown, but the spate of injuries certainly is not helping the Gunners.

Time to bring in the shipments

Arsenal need someone who can not only play in midfield but also can control games and have the same passing and distribution skills that Cazorla has. They would also need someone who can run with the ball, create the goals or even score some, the need to be flexible is extremely important for a player and that could well be the difference maker for Arsenal.

There might be many players in the league who can do such a job, but a player who isn’t English could well be the answer to Arsenal’s problems. Real Madrid might be having another Real Madrid like season and a few players seem disgruntled at the amount of playing time they have been receiving, one such player is Isco, who has promised a lot over the years but hasn’t always been able to deliver.

The Spaniard could well be on his way out of the club in search of more regular football, if we are to see the minutes player between Cazorla and Isco, it doesn’t provide great reading for the Madrid-based star.

Isco only has played 786 minutes of football in the league this season while Cazorla has played 1203 minutes this season in the league. Isco would be fresh and a move in January could well be on for the Spanish star. He also seems to be a player who makes more passes in and around the midfield rather than the driving passes that Cazorla is known for.

Thanks to Squawka.com, the Real Madrid star only has 24 forward passes per every 90 minutes while Cazorla has 60 for every 90 minutes, but both players have an equal pass completion rate with 89% and 90%.

Even when it comes to key passes over the 90 minutes, they do have a similar number; Cazorla provides 2.5 key passes per game while Isco comes home with 2.2 key passes. Arsenal need some cover for their midfield and bringing in the 23-year-old could well provide them some magic in midfield while also giving them a player that can develop for the future.
